But one USP is thart the upper receiver is the serialized portion, so you can buy different lowers and switch calibers from 9mm ammo, 10mm ammo & 45 ACP ammo. So it’s super modular and you can fit a pistol brace or run it as a concealed carry under your jacket.

The Ruger PC Carbine is just a safer bet than some of the wilder options, despite its wilfully edgy look and features list. That includes two magwells, one for Ruger SR-9 magazines and one for Glock mags. Beat that for magazine compatibility.

With a monolithic receiver, you can choose to run a pistol brace, or not.

Interesting, But Expensive

The best-selling CMMG Banshee Series 9mm Carbine is an absolute smash hit and is some people’s pick for the Pistol Caliber Carbine of the year.

Mostly it depends how you feel about the radial delayed blowback system that was hailed as a step forward. If you like it, then this is for you. If not, if you think radial delayed blowback is some newfandangled thing for the kids, then that’s OK too.

Frankly it hasn’t turned out to be the gamechanger we hoped for. It’s just a good gun with a direct impingement gas system. But we all need those, right?

This Banshee MKGS 9mm Luger is finished in Burnt Bronze Cerakote, but you can choose from almost any color, including matte black Cerakote that goes with the polymer grips.

The KRISS Vector Gen 2 is a damned sight better than the first gen and it really is living up to the ambitions of a design team that set out to break new ground.

It is fast turning into a dream gun and this 9mm Carbine with a folding stock has already achieved celebrity status in Hollywood.

This was the centerpiece of Cable’s futuristic firearm in Deadpool 2, while the aggressive styling means it’s a regular in blockbuster movies.

Now the anti recoil system isn’t quite as good as we hoped for, but it is getting better, the trigger pull is exceptional and you can choose a variety of caliber pistol calibers and also a choice of barrel lengths.

That has allowed the company to produce new guns like the Palmetto State Armory Dagger, a striker fired 9mm ammo handgun. Palmetto State Armory has also ventured into larger calibers, like 308 Win, and PCCs.

Wilson Combat has been on a tear of late with relatively affordable AR rifles and pistols that still hold true to the company principles.

Affordable is a fluid term, we know, and around $2,000 is a lot of money. But it’s less than the HK and this might just be a better personal defense weapon. Or at least it’s close enough…

Billet receivers, match grade barrels that are either 8.3 or 11.3 inches, depending on your preference, a Shockwave brace and the legendary starburst pistol grips are all spectacular.

The company wanted to set new standard for reliability, as well as accuracy, and believes it has done that. We just know the AR9 is one of the finest 9mm pistols or short-barreled rifles on sale. And we also know we can’t find one to sell you, which is why it’s down here…

14. Aero Precision EPC-9

Aero Precision gets lots of great reviews. but the company has taken a step away from selling complete firearms. You can buy a complete lower receiver and complete upper. Screw them topgether in a minute and you’ve got a complete pistol, so it’s kind of weird that the company doesn’t do that anymore. But I’m sure it has its reasons.

The simple takeaway is that you can buy an Aero Precision EPC-9 upper with the barrel and handguard combo you want, before slapping it on your lower receiver. Then you’re good to go with one of the best Pistol Caliber Carbine pistols, according to the reviews.

Some other reviewers claim its the best pistol, but I just don’t see that. It doesn’t stand out in any one area, it’s just a solid all rounder.
