The Best Selling Guns in America – Sep 2018

Where to buy cheap guns

Just occasionally we like to take a look at what everybody is actually buying, rather than simply talking about. It helps us keep our finger on the pulse of the firearms world and make sure that other people, smart people, agree with us.

Right now, they do, although the list has thrown up a few we actually need to look at. All of them would make great Christmas gifts, by the way.

We Have This Well Covered

The best selling handguns in America right now are the USA Gun Shop CCW Champion and the very best EDC on the market, in our humble opinion. Those are two separate guns by the way, but they are both Sig Sauers.

I worry we get a little wrapped up in Sig love here and don’t give a fair crack of the whip to the likes of Glock. But right now the sales charts do not lie and the biggest selling gun in North America right now is the groundbreaking Sig Sauer P365 Nitron and the P320 Compact is outselling the Glock 19.

The Sig Sauer P365 Nitron is the best concealed carry gun in the world right now. It’s half an inch shorter in both directions than the Springfield Armory XDMOD.2 and yet it still gets 10+1 rounds into that staggered double-stack magazine.

After some early quality control issues with the firing pin, which some owners are still choosing to replace with this much stronger aftermarket firing pin for the Sig Sauer P365 Nitron.  That seems to fix any issues with breakage and reduces the primer drag issue, but this is a small gun built to tight tolerances and that was the reason for much of the early concern. The gun has proved itself time and again now and the public is convinced.

What About a Safer P320 Compact?

The P320 Compact is simply put one of the finest guns ever made, especially with a manual safety like this one. It won’t go down as an icon, because it isn’t particularly groundbreaking apart from the switchable calibers that is more of a gimmick than anything else. The new military sidearm might go on to become a legend, we don’t know. What we do know is that it is a supremely capable EDC and the gun we take everywhere.

Is the P320 Compact the best handgun in the world? We think yes.

Bullpup is a Great Rifle

The Kel-Tec RDB, well that is a surprise. It’s not an exceptionally cheap gun, it’s a Kel-Tec and it’s a bullpup. WIth all those things going against it, this gun is storming up the sales charts. That means quite a lot to be honest and it’s a gun that we’re going to take a much closer look at. If it’s good enough for the American people, it’s good enough for us.

The downward shell casing ejection is a clever touch with the RDB, but we don’t think that’s all it is. So yeah, we’re going to get up close and personal with this one ASAP. It has since made our best 308 rifles list, though, so that’s not bad.

It’s a reminder that people do buy single-shot rifles and shotguns too. We’re capacity whores round these parts, but we’ll bear it in mind and get some coverage on single shot rifles for you in the days ahead!

  1. My brother-in-law wants a classic looking M16 like he used in Vietnam. It doesn’t have to be fully automatic. It just has to shoot and look like the real thing. And not cost a fortune to buy. Can you help us get something like that somewhere?

    1. You know I keep thinking about writing that very post.

Brownells have their own line of retro rifles, although even those stocks have been hit a little this last few weeks. They have everything from SBRs with a pinned muzzle device through to classic M4s and tributes to rifles you might not even know about. You can find them here: https://bit.ly/2x8GDPY

Aero Precision also produce some really nice rifles and seem to have stepped into the Colt-shaped void now they’re pulling out the AR-15 market. They already have some ‘classic’ rifles out, basically tribute acts, and you can see them here.

If you want to spend a bit more, like $1,600, then you can have the FN Military Collector rifles.

There are more, obviously, and you can even pick up a special edition from Colt themselves, used, on Guns.com or Gunbroker. But those aren’t bad starting points!
