King Von was a Glock 26 guy, as it’s easy to conceal and lightweight, and his was a pretty well-used example if you believe all the stories about King Von & Glock 26.
The late King Von, Dayvon Daquan Bennett, was one of those rare gangster rappers who really lived that life, until he didn’t. Von was feared in the worst parts of Chicago, which takes some doing. Federal investigators tied him to multiple homicides in unsealed court records, and if he were alive he’d be up on charges for at least three of them. His friend and confidante Lil Durk is now in jail fighting a Murder for Hire charge after allegedly chasing vengeance, and death and destruction were pretty much a part of Von’s life from the start.
Some say he was a literal gang assassin. Others say he killed more than 20 people with the Glock 26 and a few other random weapons. Von was a major part of the Chicago Gang Wars, and he was feared on the streets of Chicago. He spent four years in jail beating a murder rap, and when he came out of prison, he started rapping. He made millions telling stories of street life, robberies, and straight-up murders.
Guns were part of life and Von stayed faithful to the Glock brand, which is a weird form of celebrity endorsement and yet here he are. Von namechecked Glock many times in his lyrics and the G26 specifically on several occasions. We don’t think it’s the best Glock, but it worked for him more than once.
You’d think he’d leave the life behind when he got rich, but Von couldn’t stay out of shit, and in the end, he lost his life in an Atlanta car park at the age of 26. A pointless fight turned into a lethal shootout, and Von got hit multiple times.Â
King Von’s Glock 26 in the Lyrics and Lifestyle
Von mentions the Glock 26 in his songs, aligning with his storytelling style and tales of Chicago gang wars. Known for its compact size, the Glock 26 is easy to conceal, making it ideal for self-defense in tight urban spaces. The standard magazine holds 10 rounds, but like many Glock models, it can be outfitted with extended magazines for greater capacity.
While the extended magazine here might suggest a larger Glock model, and Von did approve of a Glock 19 with a switch, Von’s frequent shoutouts to the Glock 26 show that was his tried and trusted weapon.
In “Back Again,” featuring Lil Durk and Prince Dre, Von raps:
“I got a Glock with a 30, this bitch hold a whole lotta shots.”
In Crazy Story, the Glock takes a starring role in a shootout, and Von says: “I got a Glock. It has been through a lot, but it still shoots like new.”
The Baby Glock and the Drill Sound
The Glock 26 picked up the nickname Baby Glock when it dropped in 1995, the smallest 9mm Glock the company had made up to that point. That’s the version Von kept, and the one Chicago drill rappers across O Block and the wider Parkway Gardens scene have referenced more than any other handgun. The Baby Glock fits comfortably under a hoodie or in a jacket pocket, which made it the default subcompact for everyday concealed carry in the city long before it became a hip hop reference point.
Mechanically, the G26 is a 10+1 9mm subcompact built on the same locked-breech tilting-barrel system as every other Glock. It eats hot loads, +P defensive ammo, and hollow points without complaint. Drop a 15-round Glock 19 magazine or a longer Glock 17 stick in and you’ve got the subcompact frame with the flagship Glock’s capacity, which is exactly the trick the drill scene leaned into. Von’s line about a Glock with a “30” in Back Again refers to that same setup, an extended magazine bottom-mounted into a subcompact frame, run hard.

The Stories Behind the Infamous King Von Glock
For King Von, his Glock was a weapon and a way of life. Growing up in Chicago’s Parkway Gardens, Von was in and out of trouble at an early age and was rumored to have been involved in numerous gang murders. You can’t glamorize the dude, as he was involved in some heinous stuff, but he did live that life.
Von often alluded to his Glock in his lyrics, framing it as a necessary accessory in his world. Songs like “Took Her to the O” and “Armed & Dangerous” highlight his intimate connection to firearms, portraying them as an extension of his identity. In “Took Her to the O,” Von narrates a dramatic encounter with a rival gang member called FBG Duck. It read like a prophesy, as Duck was shot dead on a Chicago street in August 2020 in a near carbon copy of Von’s video
The Infamous Incident in Atlanta
On November 6, 2020, King Von was tragically shot and killed outside an Atlanta nightclub. A fistfight with Quando Rondo escalated quickly, and the rest is history. Surveillance footage shows the heated confrontation escalating into gunfire, leading to Von’s untimely death.
His music career was blowing up, and by the time of his death, some reports estimated Von’s earnings at $18 million. He was just getting started, and plenty of folks in the know think he could have been the biggest rapper in the game. He was set for stardom, although those old legal cases would have eventually caught up with him.
You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain. Had Von lived, he’d be facing multiple homicide trials and probably a whole lot of other criminal shit. Now, he is celebrated as an icon of the Chicago drill scene. For his friends and family, it sucked that he died so pointlessly, but for his legacy, he might have died at exactly the right time.
Was the Glock 26 the Best Gun?
No is the simple answer to that. The Glock G26 still has solid strengths, but the Glock 43x is a better all-around handgun and has been for a long time. But in its time, the Glock G26 was a legend of a concealed carry pistol.
We’d take the Glock G43x, Sig Sauer P365X, and the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield over the Glock 26. But it’s a personal preference, and Von had his reasons for choosing the best 9mm subcompact concealed-carry handgun.that he had at his disposal.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Glock did King Von carry?
King Von carried a Glock 26, the original Baby Glock subcompact 9mm. He name-checks the Glock by name in multiple songs, and the G26 specifically in tracks like "Crazy Story" and "Back Again." The Glock 26 holds 10+1 rounds of 9mm in its standard mag, but accepts longer Glock 17 and Glock 19 magazines for extended capacity.
Why is the Glock 26 called the Baby Glock?
The Glock 26 was the smallest 9mm Glock when it released in 1995, earning the nickname Baby Glock from gun-store culture and gun magazines. It's a subcompact built on the same locked-breech tilting-barrel system as the larger Glock 17 and Glock 19, just shorter, lighter, and easier to conceal under everyday clothing.
How did King Von die?
King Von was shot and killed outside an Atlanta nightclub on November 6, 2020, at age 26. A fistfight with rival rapper Quando Rondo escalated into gunfire, captured on surveillance footage. He died from multiple gunshot wounds. Von's career was peaking at the time and his estate has continued releasing music since.
What was King Von's real name?
King Von's real name was Dayvon Daquan Bennett. He was born in Chicago in 1994 and grew up in the Parkway Gardens housing project, the neighborhood widely known in the drill scene as O Block. He started rapping after a four-year stretch in jail beating a murder charge.
Why is the Glock 26 popular with rappers?
The Glock 26 became the default reference handgun in Chicago drill and the wider hip hop scene because it's genuinely the gun that worked in those environments: small enough to conceal under a hoodie, reliable enough to live in a pocket for years, and capable of running extended Glock 17 or Glock 19 magazines for capacity. Lil Durk, NLE Choppa, and Pop Smoke have all referenced Glock-pattern subcompacts in their music.
Is the Glock 26 still a good concealed carry gun?
It's solid but no longer the obvious pick. The Glock 43X and Sig P365 deliver the same concealment with better triggers, slimmer profiles, and 10-round magazines that flush-fit the frame. The G26 is still a fine carry gun and the aftermarket is enormous, but most modern shooters cross-shop it against the 43X first.
What's a "Glock with a switch"?
A switch is an illegal auto-sear conversion, a small device installed on the back of a Glock slide that converts the pistol from semi-automatic to fully automatic. They're federally illegal under the National Firearms Act and federal machinegun bans, and possession carries serious federal time. Switches show up frequently in drill rap lyrics, including some of King Von's, but actually owning one is a felony.
Did King Von's lyrics predict FBG Duck's death?
King Von's 2018 song "Took Her to the O" narrates a fictional encounter with FBG Duck, a rival Chicago rapper from a different gang faction. Duck was shot and killed on a Chicago street in August 2020 in a way that drew comparisons to the song's narrative. Whether Von had advance knowledge or it was a coincidence has been the subject of speculation and federal interest, but no charges directly linked Von to Duck's killing.
