King Von’s Glock: The Glock 26

King Von knew a thing or two about guns, and chose the Glock 26.

King Von was a Glock 26 guy, as it’s easy to conceal and lightweight, and his was a pretty well-used example if you believe all the stories about King Von & Glock 26.

The late King Von, Dayvon Daquan Bennett, was one of those rare gangster rappers who really lived that life until he didn’t. Von was feared in the worst parts of Chicago, which takes some doing. The FBI has officially labeled him a serial killer, and if he was alive, then he’d be up on charges for at least three murders. His friend and confidante Lil Durk is now in jail fighting a Murder for Hire charge after allegedly chasing vengeance, and death and destruction were pretty much a part of Von’s life from the start.

Some say he was a literal gang assassin. Others say he killed more than 20 people with the Glock 26 and a few other random weapons. Von was a major part of the Chicago Gang Wars, and he was feared on the streets of Chicago. He spent four years in jail beating a murder rap, and when he came out of prison, he started rapping. He made millions telling stories of street life, robberies, and straight-up murders.

Guns were part of life and Von stayed faithful to the Glock brand, which is a weird form of celebrity endorsement and yet here he are. Von namechecked Glock many times in his lyrics and the G26 specifically on several occasions. We don’t think it’s the best Glock, but it worked for him more than once.

You’d think he’d leave the life behind, but Von couldn’t stay out of shit, and in the end, he lost his life in an Atlanta car park at the age of 26. A pointless fight turned into a lethal shootout, and Von got hit multiple times.

King Von’s Glock 26 in the Lyrics and Lifestyle

Von mentions the Glock 26 in his songs, aligning with his storytelling style and tales of Chicago gang wars. Known for its compact size, the Glock 26 is easy to conceal, making it ideal for self-defense in tight urban spaces. The standard magazine holds 10 rounds, but like many Glock models, it can be outfitted with extended magazines for greater capacity.

While the extended magazine here might suggest a larger Glock model, and Von did approve of a Glock 19 with a switch, Von’s frequent shoutouts to the Glock 26 show that was his tried and trusted weapon.

In “Back Again,” featuring Lil Durk and Prince Dre, Von raps:

“I got a Glock with a 30, this bitch hold a whole lotta shots.”

In Crazy Story, the Glock takes a starring role in a shootout, and Vion says: “I got a Glock. It has been through a lot, but it still shoots like new.”

The Stories Behind the Infamous King Von Glock

For King Von, his Glock was a weapon and a way of life. Growing up in Chicago’s Parkway Gardens, Von was in and out of trouble at an early age and was rumored to have been involved in numerous gang murders. You can’t glamorize the dude, as he was involved in some heinous stuff, but he did live that life.

Von often alluded to his Glock in his lyrics, framing it as a necessary accessory in his world. Songs like “Took Her to the O” and “Armed & Dangerous” highlight his intimate connection to firearms, portraying them as an extension of his identity. In “Took Her to the O,” Von narrates a dramatic encounter that escalates to violence, a tale underscored by his reliance on his Glock for self-defense.

The Infamous Incident in Atlanta

On November 6, 2020, King Von was tragically shot and killed outside an Atlanta nightclub. A fistfight with Quando Rondo escalated quickly, and the rest is history. Surveillance footage shows the heated confrontation escalating into gunfire, leading to Von’s untimely death.

His music career was blowing up, and by the time of his death, some reports estimated Vion’s earnings at $18 million. He was just getting started, and plenty of folks in the know think he could have been the biggest rapper in the game. He was set for stardom, although those old legal cases would have eventually caught up with him.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain. Had Von lived, he’d be facing multiple homicide trials and probably a whole lot of other criminal shit. Now, he is celebrated as an icon of the Chicago drill scene. For his friends and family, it sucked that he died so pointlessly, but for his legacy, he might have died at exactly the right time.

Was the Glock 26 the Best Gun?

No is the simple answer to that. The Glock G26 still has solid strengths, but the Glock 43x is a better all-around handgun and has been for a long time. But in its time, the Glock G26 was a legend of a concealed carry pistol.

We’d take the Glock G43x, Sig Sauer P365X, and the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield over the Glock 26. But it’s a personal preference, and Von had his reasons for choosing the best 9mm subcompact concealed-carry handgun.
