USA Gun Shop is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. We strive to provide an inclusive digital experience and are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our site.
Our Commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
What We Are Doing
We are taking the following steps to ensure accessibility across our site:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading structure, landmarks, and semantic elements to support screen readers and assistive technologies.
- Alt text: We provide descriptive alternative text for images so that screen reader users can understand visual content.
- Color contrast: We aim to maintain sufficient color contrast between text and background elements to ensure readability.
- Keyboard navigation: We work to ensure that all interactive elements on our site can be accessed and operated using a keyboard.
- Responsive design: Our site is designed to work across different devices and screen sizes, including when text is resized up to 200%.
- Link clarity: We aim to use descriptive link text that makes sense out of context so users know where a link will take them.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some content on our site may not yet be fully accessible. This includes:
- Some older articles may have images without adequate alternative text. We are working to update these.
- Third-party content and widgets (such as affiliate retailer links and embedded media) may not meet all accessibility standards. We choose partners who prioritize accessibility where possible.
- Some interactive elements in our price comparison tool may have limited screen reader support. We are actively improving this.
Feedback and Contact
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of USA Gun Shop. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our site and work to identify and fix issues as they arise. We are committed to making USA Gun Shop a resource that everyone can use, regardless of ability.
Specific WCAG 2.1 Standards We Follow
Our development standards target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across four principles: perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. In practice this means specific things on every page we publish:
- Text contrast ratios meet 4.5:1 minimum for body text against background, and 3:1 minimum for large text and UI components. Our color palette is checked against this standard during design review.
- Heading hierarchy is logical and uninterrupted. Every page uses H1 once for the page title, with H2 and H3 sub-sections in proper nested order. Screen readers depend on this hierarchy to let users navigate by section.
- Form inputs have programmatically associated labels. Every search field, filter, and contact input uses explicit label-for-id pairing so screen readers announce the field purpose.
- Interactive elements have visible focus indicators. Keyboard users see a visible outline on the currently focused link, button, or form input. We do not suppress browser focus rings with CSS.
- Images that convey information have meaningful alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them. Product photos describe the specific firearm or accessory shown.
- Video and audio content is captioned or transcribed. Where we embed video reviews, we provide either captions on the video itself or a written transcript in the post body.
Screen Reader Compatibility
We regularly test core site functionality with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. Specific features verified to work with screen readers:
- Main navigation menu, mobile menu, and footer links are announced as the menu items and links they are, with proper ARIA roles.
- Article body content reads in proper order, with headings, paragraphs, lists, and tables announced as their semantic structure.
- Live pricing cards announce the product name, current best price, and retailer when the card loads. Each “Buy” link is reachable via keyboard tab navigation.
- Image galleries and comparison tables are announced with appropriate row/column context.
Mobile Accessibility
Roughly 70% of our visitors arrive via mobile devices, so we prioritize mobile accessibility specifically. All interactive targets meet the 44×44 pixel minimum touch target size for finger access. Forms work with mobile screen readers and switch control. The site supports pinch-to-zoom up to 200% without breaking layout — we do not use the meta viewport tag’s user-scalable=no attribute that would block zoom.
Known Limitations and Workarounds
We are transparent about areas where our accessibility is still improving:
- Some third-party embedded content (YouTube videos, affiliate widgets, partner pricing feeds) is controlled by external providers and may not fully meet our accessibility standards. Where third-party content fails to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, we provide alternative text descriptions in the surrounding article body.
- Older posts (pre-2020) may contain images without alt text or formatting that pre-dates our current accessibility standards. We are working through the archive to update these as part of our content refresh cycle.
- Live affiliate pricing widgets render after page load via JavaScript. The pre-render placeholder text describes what is loading. If JavaScript is disabled, the widget is replaced with a static text link to the retailer instead.
Alternative Formats
If you need any content from USA Gun Shop in an alternative format — large print, plain text email, audio description — contact us at the email address below and we will work with you to provide it within a reasonable timeframe. We will not charge for alternative format requests.
Third-Party Tools and Browser Compatibility
Our site works with modern versions of all major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and the assistive technologies that pair with them. For the best accessibility experience we recommend using the latest version of your browser plus an actively maintained screen reader. If you rely on older assistive technology and encounter issues, please let us know — we can often provide workarounds or guidance.
