The Real Guns of GTA 6: What We Expect Based on the Trailers

Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t out yet, and Rockstar has shown us only a couple of trailers set in a sun-soaked, neon-drenched modern Vice City. But if there’s one thing the GTA series is consistent about, it’s that every gun is a lightly renamed real firearm. Based on the trailers, the modern Florida setting, and Rockstar’s track record, here’s the real-world hardware we expect to see in GTA 6, and the guns you can already buy today. We’ll update this as the game gets closer.

The Everyday Pistol = Glock

Every GTA has a bread-and-butter pistol, and in a modern setting that means a Glock, the polymer striker gun that dominates real-world holsters. Expect it to be the default sidearm you spawn with and pull in a hundred street shootouts. The Assault Rifle = AR-15 / M4

No GTA armory is complete without an AR-15 / M4 pattern carbine, and a modern game means a modern flat-top rifle with rails and a collapsible stock. The Draco = AK Pistol

Given the modern Florida street setting and the music-video energy of the trailers, an AK pistol like the Draco is almost a lock. These short-barreled AKs are all over modern crime culture and rap, exactly the vibe GTA 6 is channeling. It’s a very real, very buyable gun, and we cover it in our Draco guide.

The Pump Shotgun = Remington 870 / Winchester SXP

The pump shotgun is a GTA staple and will surely return, most likely modeled on a Remington 870 or a modern equivalent like the Winchester SXP. The Hand Cannon = Desert Eagle

The Desert Eagle has appeared in nearly every GTA game, and a flashy Miami crime saga is the perfect stage for the chrome hand cannon to return. Expect a big, loud .50 that ends arguments in one shot. The real Deagle is a gas-operated beast and the most cinematic pistol ever made, chrome finish practically mandatory for the Vice City aesthetic.

What We’re Still Waiting to See

Rockstar has kept most of the arsenal under wraps, so a lot of this is educated guesswork based on the trailers and the series’ history. When the game drops, we’ll almost certainly see modern SMGs, a battle rifle or two, a marksman rifle, and probably some exotic surprise weapons.
