10 Cheapest Online Gun Stores in the USA (2026 Price Comparison)

Last updated August 2026 · By Nick Hall, who has been price-tracking online gun retailers since 2017

Everyone wants the best price. And in the firearms market — where the same shotgun can swing more than $100 between two licensed dealers on the same day — finding the cheapest gun website saves real money. We’ve tracked prices across hundreds of online retailers for years, and the data tells a clear story: some stores consistently beat the competition.

This isn’t a “Top 10 Affiliate Partners” list. We used our gun price comparison tool to analyze actual selling prices across major product categories — handguns, AR-15s, shotguns, bolt-action rifles, and ammunition — to identify which online gun stores genuinely offer the lowest prices in 2026.

Table of Contents

Quick Answer: Cheapest Gun Websites in 2026

Based on our price tracking data, these retailers consistently offer the lowest prices across major firearm categories:

  1. Palmetto State Armory — Cheapest overall, especially AR-15s and budget builds
  2. Battlehawk Armory — Consistently among the lowest on handguns
  3. KyGunCo — Strong pricing across all categories, free shipping on most firearms
  4. GrabAGun — Large inventory with competitive pricing and price matching
  5. Sportsman’s Warehouse — Competitive online prices with in-store pickup option
  6. Primary Arms — Best prices on optics, competitive on rifles
  7. Guns.com — Huge selection, frequent clearance deals
  8. Bereli — Aggressive pricing on popular handgun brands
  9. Prepper Gun Shop — Deep discounts on select inventory
  10. Rural King — Surprisingly cheap firearms with in-store pickup

But rankings alone don’t tell the full story. No single store is cheapest on everything. Let’s break it down by category.

How We Determined the Cheapest Gun Stores

We didn’t just pick stores we like. Our price comparison engine continuously indexes millions of product listings from hundreds of licensed online firearms dealers. For this analysis, we compared actual selling prices on 20 popular firearms across all major retailers and identified which stores appeared most frequently in the “lowest price” position.

We factored in:

  • Base price — the listed price on the product page
  • Shipping costs — free shipping vs. $20-40 firearms shipping fees
  • Credit card fees — some stores charge 2-3% extra for credit card payments
  • Frequency — how often each store appeared as the cheapest option across multiple products

What we didn’t factor in: FFL transfer fees (these vary by your local dealer, not the online store) and sales tax (this depends on your state and whether the retailer has a physical presence there).

Cheapest Online Gun Stores — Detailed Breakdown

1. Palmetto State Armory (PSA)

Best for: AR-15s, budget builds, ammo, and complete rifle kits

PSA is the undisputed king of budget firearms. They manufacture their own AR-15s, AKs, and the Dagger (Glock-compatible) line, allowing them to undercut retailers who rely on wholesale pricing. When Palmetto runs a sale — which is nearly always — their complete AR-15 rifles regularly dip to $399. Their daily deals page is worth checking every morning. For how those budget rifles stack up against the rest of the market, see our best AR-15 rifles roundup.

Price examples from our tracker:

  • PSA PA-15 complete AR-15: $399-$479 (vs. $550-$650 at most competitors)
  • PSA Dagger 9mm (Glock 19 compatible): $299-$319
  • Bulk 5.56 NATO ammo: Consistently 10-15% cheaper than average

Watch out for: Shipping costs can be significant ($10-20 on firearms). They frequently offer free shipping promotions — wait for one if you can. Their website can be slow during major sales.

2. Battlehawk Armory

Best for: Handguns, especially Glock, Sig Sauer, and Smith & Wesson

Battlehawk frequently appears as the lowest-price retailer for popular handguns in our comparison tool. Their pricing on Glocks, Sig Sauers, and S&W M&Ps is aggressively low. They don’t have the brand recognition of Brownells or PSA, but their prices speak for themselves.

Watch out for: They add a card-processing surcharge at checkout — it was 2.75% when we last checked, which puts roughly $14 back onto a $500 handgun, so confirm the figure in your cart before you compare. Paying by money order or cashier’s check avoids it but adds delay.

Shop Battlehawk Armory →

3. KyGunCo

Best for: All-around low prices with excellent shipping policy

KyGunCo (Kentucky Gun Co.) ships most firearms free, with no order minimum to hit. That alone makes them price-competitive even when their base price is a few dollars higher than competitors who charge $20+ for shipping. Non-firearm orders fall under a flat rate (currently $13.94 per 25 lbs), so it is worth consolidating accessories into one basket. Their inventory is massive, covering handguns, rifles, shotguns, and accessories.

Price edge: When you compare “out-the-door” price (base + shipping), KyGunCo frequently wins because that $0 shipping absorbs a $10-20 base price difference.

Shop KyGunCo →

4. GrabAGun

Best for: Price matching, large selection, and clearance deals

GrabAGun’s pricing is reliably competitive, and they back it up with a price-match guarantee. If you find a lower price at a competitor, they’ll match it. Their clearance section regularly has firearms at 15-25% below normal pricing. They’re based in Texas with a large warehouse, meaning fast shipping to most of the country.

Shop GrabAGun →

5. Sportsman’s Warehouse

Best for: Avoiding shipping costs entirely with in-store pickup

Sportsman’s Warehouse has a major advantage: roughly 147 physical stores across 32 states. Order online at their competitive web price and pick up in-store for free — no shipping cost, no FFL transfer fee. This can save you $40-$70 compared to buying from an online-only retailer. Their online pricing is competitive with dedicated online dealers, making them a strong all-around option. If you are shopping handguns specifically, our best websites to buy handguns online breakdown ranks the same stores on pistol pricing alone.

Shop Sportsman's Warehouse →

6. Primary Arms

Best for: Optics and accessories (also competitive on firearms)

Primary Arms started as an optics company and still offers some of the best prices on red dots, scopes, and magnifiers. Their own-brand optics (Primary Arms SLx and GLx lines) offer exceptional value. But they’ve expanded into a full firearms retailer with competitive pricing on rifles and handguns too.

7. Guns.com

Best for: Massive inventory and used/consignment firearms

Guns.com is an independent marketplace out of Burnsville, Minnesota, and it runs one of the largest online inventories in the industry. Their new firearm pricing is competitive, but where they really shine is their used and consignment section. You can find excellent deals on pre-owned guns — often 25-40% below new prices — with honest condition descriptions and quality photos.

Shop Guns.com →

8. Bereli

Best for: Undercutting the big stores on popular handguns

Bereli has none of the name recognition of PSA or Brownells, but it turns up in our lowest-price results far more often than its size suggests. Pricing on Sig Sauer, Glock, and Springfield is where it bites hardest — routinely $20-40 under bigger stores on the same popular handgun models. They also run a paid membership tier that layers further discounts on top, which is worth the maths if you buy more than a couple of guns a year.

Shop Bereli →

9. Prepper Gun Shop

Best for: Rotating deep discounts on a smaller, faster-moving inventory

Prepper Gun Shop works differently from the volume retailers. The catalogue is smaller and turns over quickly, and the discounts are genuinely deep rather than the fake-markdown theatre a lot of sites run. That makes it a daily-check store rather than a search-and-buy store: what is cheap today may be gone tomorrow, and there is no guarantee they stock the specific model you want.

10. Rural King

Best for: Cheap guns with zero shipping and zero transfer fee, if you live near one

Rural King is a farm supply chain, which is exactly why most shooters never think to price-check it. Firearms pricing is genuinely competitive, and because you buy in-store there is no shipping cost and no third-party FFL transfer fee — the same structural advantage Sportsman’s Warehouse has. The catch is geography: the chain is concentrated in the Midwest and Southeast, so this is a great option or a non-option depending on your postcode.

How to Actually Get the Lowest Price

Knowing which stores are cheapest is step one. Here’s how to squeeze every dollar out of your purchase:

1. Always Compare Before You Buy

Use our gun price comparison tool before every purchase. It takes 10 seconds and can save you $50-$200. The price leader changes constantly — PSA might be cheapest on Monday, but Battlehawk drops their price on Tuesday.

2. Calculate Total Cost, Not Just Sticker Price

The cheapest listed price isn’t always the cheapest total cost. Add up:

  • Base price
  • Shipping ($0-$40 depending on retailer)
  • Credit card surcharge (0-3% at some stores)
  • FFL transfer fee ($20-$50 at your local dealer)

A gun listed at $449 with free shipping and no CC fee beats a $439 gun with $25 shipping and a 3% surcharge ($439 + $25 + $13 = $477). Need help finding an affordable FFL? Our FFL transfer guide explains how to find low-fee transfer dealers.

3. Sign Up for Deal Alerts

Most major retailers offer email newsletters with exclusive deals. PSA’s daily email deals are legendary in the firearms community. Brownells sends exclusive coupon codes. GrabAGun’s clearance alerts can net you 20%+ off. Sign up for all of them and check your email before buying anything.

4. Time Your Purchase

Gun prices follow predictable patterns. The cheapest times to buy are:

  • Black Friday through Cyber Monday — The absolute cheapest prices of the year (we track them on our Black Friday gun deals page)
  • 4th of July sales — Second-best sale period
  • Off-election years — Prices drop when panic buying subsides
  • January-February — Post-holiday inventory clearance

The most expensive times to buy: immediately after mass shootings (panic buying), during election seasons, and when new gun control legislation is proposed.

5. Consider Used and Police Trade-Ins

The cheapest gun is often a used one. Police trade-in Glocks for $300-$350 (vs. $620 new for a Gen 6), consignment Sig P226s for $450 (vs. $900 new), and lightly used hunting rifles at 30-40% off are all common finds. Guns.com, Sportsman’s Warehouse, and Aim Surplus are reliable sources for quality used firearms. Run any model through our gun price check first so you know what “a good used price” actually looks like.

Stores to Avoid (Red Flags)

Not every low price is a good deal. Watch out for these warning signs:

  • Prices drastically below everyone else — If one store is $150+ cheaper than all competitors, verify they’re a licensed FFL before ordering
  • Hidden fees at checkout — Some shady retailers add “insurance,” “handling,” or “processing” fees that appear only in the cart
  • No phone number or physical address — Legitimate FFLs are registered with the ATF and have verifiable business addresses
  • Only accepts wire transfer, Zelle, or crypto — Reputable dealers accept credit cards (even if they add a small surcharge)
  • No FFL required messaging — If a site claims to ship firearms directly to your door without an FFL, it’s either illegal or a scam

Our price comparison tool only indexes known, licensed retailers — so if you’re using our search, you’re already filtered for legitimacy. For a deeper dive on buying safely online, read our best online gun stores guide where we vet each retailer individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest website to buy guns online?

No single website is cheapest on everything. Palmetto State Armory consistently offers the lowest prices on AR-15s and their own-brand firearms. Battlehawk Armory and KyGunCo frequently have the lowest prices on major-brand handguns like Glock and Sig Sauer. The cheapest price on any specific gun changes daily — use our price comparison tool to check before every purchase.

Is it actually cheaper to buy guns online?

Yes, in most cases. Online retailers have lower overhead than brick-and-mortar stores and compete nationally, driving prices down. Even after factoring in shipping ($15-$30) and FFL transfer fees ($20-$50), online prices are typically $50-$150 cheaper than local gun stores. The exception is stores like Sportsman’s Warehouse where you can buy online and pick up in-store to avoid both shipping and transfer fees. We ran the full sum in is it cheaper to buy guns online?

Do I have to pay tax when buying guns online?

It depends on whether the retailer has a physical presence (nexus) in your state. Following the 2018 Wayfair decision, most large online retailers now collect sales tax in all states. However, some smaller online dealers may not have nexus in your state, potentially saving you 5-10% in sales tax. This is legal — you’re technically supposed to report and pay use tax, but enforcement varies.

How do I buy a gun online if I’ve never done it before?

It’s straightforward: choose your gun, checkout and pay online, then the retailer ships it to an FFL dealer near you. You visit the FFL, fill out the 4473 form, pass the background check, and take your gun home. The whole process takes 3-10 days from order to pickup. Our FFL transfer guide walks you through every step.

Do online gun stores charge sales tax?

Most do since the Wayfair decision. Online retailers collect state sales tax based on your shipping address. This is the same tax you would pay at a local store. Factor it into price comparisons.

How much does shipping cost from online gun stores?

Typically 10 to 30 dollars for firearms. Some retailers offer free shipping over certain order amounts. Ammo shipping is higher due to weight. Factor shipping plus transfer fees into total cost.

Can I return a gun bought online?

Policies vary by retailer. Most allow returns of unfired guns in original packaging within 30 days. Once transferred through an FFL, returns become more complicated. Read the return policy before buying.

What is the best website to compare gun prices?

Our gun price check tool compares pricing across dozens of retailers. WikiArms and GunBroker also provide pricing data. Always check multiple sources before committing.

Do I need to be 21 to buy a gun online?
