Ranking the best gun safe brands requires ignoring affiliate commissions and focusing on what actually matters. I’m going to rank them based on what actually matters: steel quality, fire protection honesty, warranty integrity, and long-term value. Some of these rankings will be controversial. Good.

I’ve compared specs, prices, warranties, and real-world customer experiences to rank the 10 best gun safe brands you should actually consider in 2026. Some heritage brands coast on reputation. After living with a Browning DPX interior for six months, going back to a generic safe feels like downgrading from a luxury car to a rental.

The Sporter line has repositioned Browning from “premium only” to “premium accessible.” The SP9 at $870, SP20 at $1,259, SP23 at $1,359, and SP33 at $1,569 all deliver 12-gauge steel with 60-minute fire ratings.

A fire rating tested 200 degrees hotter than Liberty’s, on a safe that starts under $900?

The math is hard to argue with.

Smart lineup structure, and it moved this year. The Instinct line is discontinued and the Domain replaced it at the bottom, running from a 6-gun safe around $630 to a 40-gun around $1,350, all rated 30 minutes at 1,400 degrees. Be clear on what that means, though. Those are UL-listed components, not a UL fire listing for the safe.
