Quick Take
The Holosun EPS Carry is an enclosed emitter red dot sized for single-stack and micro-compact pistols. The LED sits behind a front window, sealed inside the housing, so pocket lint, sweat and rain can’t land on the emitter and blank out your dot. It weighs 1.23 ounces, mounts on the Holosun K footprint, and ships with an RMSc-to-K plate for slides cut for the Shield RMSc pattern, which covers the P365 family and the Hellcat OSP.
We ran an EPS Carry MRS in red on a Sig P365 XL for 800 rounds over three range days and seven weeks of appendix carry. It never lost zero, the dot came on with the gun every time it left the holster, and the emitter stayed clean when the open-emitter dot on our other carry gun needed a cotton swab twice a week. The glass is clear with only a faint blue tint.
The buying detail most reviews miss: only the MRS models get Holosun’s solar failsafe and automatic brightness. Holosun’s own spec tables list “Solar Power: No” and “Automatic Brightness: No” for the 2 MOA and 6 MOA dot versions. If you want the optic to dim itself when you walk inside, you have to pay for the MRS.
Best For: Appendix and IWB carriers on a P365, Hellcat, Glock 43X MOS-K or Shield X who want a dot that can’t get clogged. Not for shooters who want the biggest window on a slim slide; that’s now the EPS Core.
Why Holosun Built the EPS Carry
Open-emitter dots like the 507K have one weak spot on a carry gun: the LED sits in the open at the back of the sight, right where lint, sweat and rain collect. Enclosed sights fix that by sealing the emitter between two panes of glass. For years the enclosed options were duty-size optics like the Aimpoint ACRO and Holosun’s own full-size EPS, too wide for a single-stack slide.
The EPS Carry is the narrow version. Holosun’s spec sheet gives the body as 1.63 x 1.07 x 0.95 inches against 1.63 x 1.19 x 0.99 inches for the full EPS. The length is identical. The Carry is 0.12 inches narrower and a little lower, and that is the difference between a sight that hangs off a P365 slide and one that sits flush with it.
The price of that slimmer body is glass. The window is 0.77 by 0.58 inches on the EPS Carry and 0.90 by 0.63 inches on the full EPS, so the Carry gives up about a fifth of its viewing area. Our to-scale drawing shows how much.

The Variants and the Real Prices
Holosun sells the EPS Carry in three reticles and three colors, plus a Ronin Edition MRS. The housing, window and battery are the same on all of them. What changes is the reticle and, on the MRS, the solar cell and auto brightness.
2 MOA or 6 MOA dot: Holosun lists the red 2 MOA and red 6 MOA at $388.22 and the green 6 MOA at $405.87, and most sellers had them at $329.99 when we checked. The 2 MOA is the better choice for 25 yard work. The 6 MOA is faster to find on a draw. Neither has the solar cell or auto brightness.
MRS: the Multi-Reticle System lets you switch between a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or both. It’s the only EPS Carry with the solar failsafe and automatic brightness, and it lists at $470.58 in red or gold. Ammunition Depot had the red MRS at $399.99.
Green or gold: green is 540 nm and gold is 590 nm against 650 nm for red. Green and gold read brighter to most eyes in daylight. If you have astigmatism and the red dot looks like a smudge, try a green or gold one before you give up on dots.

EPS Carry vs EPS Core: The 2026 Problem
Holosun added the EPS Core for 2026, and it changes the math. The Core mounts directly on the RMSc footprint, takes the full-size EPS window of 0.9 by 0.63 inches, and its MRS version lists at $329.40 with the solar failsafe and auto brightness included. That is $141.18 less than the EPS Carry MRS for a bigger window.
So why buy the Carry? Three reasons. It’s lighter at 1.23 ounces against 1.4. It’s narrower at 1.07 inches against 1.18, which matters on the slimmest slides. And it’s machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, where Holosun lists the Core housing as 6061. If you want the toughest, slimmest enclosed dot for a micro-compact, it’s the Carry. If you want the most glass for the money, it’s the Core, and Sportsman’s Guide had the 3 MOA Core at $229.99.

Will It Fit Your Gun?
The EPS Carry mounts directly on a Holosun K cut and on an RMSc cut with the plate Holosun puts in the box. Holosun also includes three screw sets: M3x12, M4x12 and 6-32×12. Here is how that lines up with the most common carry guns, from our red dot footprint chart.
| Pistol | Factory optic cut | EPS Carry mount |
| Sig P365, P365X, P365 XL, X-Macro | Shield RMSc (SIG calls it COMPACT) | Use the RMSc-to-K plate |
| Springfield Hellcat OSP | Shield RMSc | Use the RMSc-to-K plate |
| Glock 43X MOS-K, 48 MOS-K | Holosun K or RMSc | Direct |
| Glock 43X MOS, 48 MOS (standard) | Shield RMSc | Use the RMSc-to-K plate |
| S&W M&P Shield X | RMSc/K | Direct |
| S&W CSX E-Series | “Modified RMS-C/507K” | Test-fit first |
Check screw length on any slide before you torque it down. A screw that bottoms out can bind the striker channel. Holosun’s screws come with thread locker already on them.
Who Should NOT Buy This Gun Sight
- Shooters who want the biggest window on a slim slide: The EPS Core has the full-size EPS window on an RMSc footprint for less money.
- Budget buyers who don’t carry in lint or rain: An open-emitter Holosun 507K X2 has the same Shake Awake and MRS features for less.
- Anyone running a full-size duty gun: Buy the full EPS or an Aimpoint ACRO P-2 and get the bigger window.
- Buyers who want a US or Swedish-made optic: Holosun is based in California and builds its optics in China. Trijicon and Aimpoint don’t.
How the EPS Carry Compares
Holosun 507K X2 ($295.99)
The 507K X2 is the open-emitter sight the EPS Carry was built to improve on. Same K footprint, same MRS reticle, same Shake Awake, and about $100 less than an EPS Carry MRS. If your gun lives in a nightstand or an OWB holster, the 507K is the better value. If it rides inside your waistband against a sweaty shirt all day, the sealed emitter is worth paying for.

Shield RMSc ($281.70-$300.98)
Shield designed the footprint most micro-compacts are cut for, and the RMSc is lower and lighter than any enclosed sight. It’s an open emitter with a single dot and no Shake Awake, so it gives up the two things the EPS Carry does best. Buy it if the lowest possible profile matters more than anything else.

Trijicon RMRcc ($588.79)
The RMRcc is the hard-use carry dot, built by Trijicon in Michigan. It’s an open emitter and costs about $190 more than an EPS Carry MRS. Buy it if you trust Trijicon’s durability record over Holosun’s features. Buy the EPS Carry if a clean emitter and a 50,000 hour battery matter more.
Aimpoint ACRO P-2 ($599-$617)
The ACRO P-2 is the enclosed sight that started the category, and it’s still the duty standard. It’s also a full-size optic on its own ACRO footprint, so it needs a plate on almost every carry gun and costs about $200 more than the EPS Carry MRS. On a micro-compact the EPS Carry is the better fit.

Swampfox Sentinel II ($165.51-$203.99)
The Sentinel II is the budget micro dot: an open emitter on the RMSc footprint for about half the price of an EPS Carry. It’s a good first dot to find out whether you like carrying one. It isn’t sealed, so it has the same lint problem as every open emitter.

How We Tested It
Our test sight was an EPS Carry MRS in red, mounted on a Sig P365 XL with Holosun’s RMSc-to-K plate and the M4 screws from the box. Mounting took about ten minutes. We zeroed at 15 yards, then shot three range days in September and October 2026, and carried the gun appendix in a Kydex holster for seven weeks in between.
Phase 1: Mounting and Zero
Zeroing took 14 rounds at 15 yards. The 1.5 MOA clicks are coarse, so expect each click to move impact about a quarter inch at that distance. The P365 XL’s factory irons sit low in the bottom of the window with the plate installed, which gives a lower one-third co-witness rather than an absolute one.
Phase 2: Durability and Zero Retention
We fired 800 rounds across the three range days, including 200 rounds of fast strings and 60 rounds of one-handed drills. We confirmed zero at the start of each session and it hadn’t moved. We pulled the battery tray, swapped the CR1620 and fired a 5-shot confirmation group without touching the adjustments, and impact stayed inside the original group.
Phase 3: Accuracy
Five-shot groups from a rest at 15 yards averaged 1.9 inches with the 2 MOA dot. At 25 yards they averaged 3.1 inches, which is the P365 XL’s limit, not the sight’s. Switching to the 32 MOA circle cut our time on a 7 yard draw-and-fire drill from 1.72 seconds to 1.58 seconds on average.
Ammunition Log
| Ammunition | Rounds | 15 yd group | Notes |
| Federal American Eagle 115 gr FMJ | 400 | 2.1 in. | Zero load, fast strings |
| Blazer Brass 124 gr FMJ | 250 | 2.0 in. | One-handed drills |
| Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P | 100 | 1.7 in. | Carry load, same zero |
| Hornady Critical Defense 135 gr | 50 | 1.8 in. | Point of impact about 1 in. low |
Tracking and Observations
The dot never flickered, even on the fast strings. Shake Awake brought it on as the gun cleared the holster every time we checked, more than 150 draws. After seven weeks of appendix carry the outside of the rear window had lint on it, which wiped off with a shirt, and the emitter was spotless because there is no way for anything to reach it.
What This Means for You
Mount it, zero it, and stop thinking about it. The EPS Carry held zero through a battery change and 800 rounds, and the sealed emitter means the dot is there when you draw. The only adjustment you’ll need to make is to the smaller window, which takes a consistent presentation to find the dot fast.

Performance Results
Reliability (9/10)
No flicker, no shutoff, no zero shift in 800 rounds, and Shake Awake worked on every draw. Holosun rates the housing IPX8 and 5000G, and nothing we did came close to testing either.
Clarity (9/10)
The aspheric glass gives a crisp 2 MOA dot with no visible distortion at the edges. Looking through two panes adds a faint blue tint you notice on a white wall and forget about on a target.
Ergonomics (8/10)
The brightness buttons on the left side are large and easy to press with gloves. The small window is the one ergonomic cost. New dot shooters lose the dot more often on a 0.77 inch window than on a 0.90 inch one.
Fit, Finish, and Quality Control (9/10)
Clean machining, an even anodized finish and a tight seal around both windows. The included plate fit the P365 XL cut with no play.
Technical Deep Dive
Shake Awake, Solar and Brightness
Every EPS Carry has Shake Awake, auto off and a lockout mode, with 8 daylight and 4 night vision brightness settings and a memory that recalls your last setting. Only the MRS adds the solar panel and automatic brightness. On a single-dot model you set the brightness by hand and it stays there, so set it for the brightest place you’ll be.
Battery
The CR1620 slides out of a tray on the right side, so you can change it without removing the sight. Holosun rates it at 50,000 hours at brightness setting 6. We change carry optic batteries once a year on a calendar date regardless of what the rating says.
| Component | Specification | Benefit |
| Emitter | Enclosed, sealed between two windows | Lint, sweat and rain can’t block the dot |
| Window | 0.77 x 0.58 in. | Narrow enough for single-stack slides |
| Housing | 7075-T6 aluminum, IPX8 | Stronger alloy than the 6061 EPS Core |
| Battery | CR1620 side tray, 50,000 hr | Change it without losing zero |
| Footprint | K direct, RMSc plate included | Fits most micro-compact optic cuts |
Common Problems and Fixes
- Dot too dim indoors or too bright outside: Single-dot models have no auto brightness. Buy the MRS, or set brightness for daylight and turn it down at home.
- Losing the dot on the draw: The window is small. Practice a consistent presentation, or switch the MRS to the 32 MOA circle.
- Sight won’t sit flat on an RMSc cut: You need the RMSc-to-K plate from the box.
- Screws bottoming out: Use the shortest screw that fully engages, and check the striker channel before final torque.
Final Verdict
The Holosun EPS Carry is the slimmest, toughest way to put an enclosed red dot on a micro-compact. It held zero through 800 rounds and a battery change, the emitter stayed clean through seven weeks of appendix carry, and it fits a P365, Hellcat, Glock 43X MOS-K or Shield X with the parts in the box.
Buy the MRS if you can, because it’s the only version with solar and auto brightness. And look hard at the new EPS Core before you buy, because it gives you a bigger window for less money if you can live with a little more width and a 6061 housing. Final Score: 8.7/10. The enclosed red dot that finally fits a carry gun. Just check the EPS Core first.
