About USA Gun Shop
USA Gun Shop is an independent firearms review and price comparison site. We test guns with real ammunition, publish honest reviews, and search more than 100 online retailers to find you the best price. No manufacturer has ever paid us to write a review. No retailer has ever influenced a score. What you read on this site is what we genuinely think after putting rounds downrange.
Founded in 2018, the site has grown from a small blog into one of the most comprehensive firearms resources on the web. We have published more than 500 articles covering handguns, rifles, shotguns, ammunition, optics, and accessories. Our reviews include detailed round-count testing, accuracy data, and honest assessments of both strengths and flaws.
Every review on this site is written by someone who has actually fired the gun. We do not rewrite press releases. We do not copy specs from manufacturer websites and call it a review. If we say a gun ran 1,500 rounds without a malfunction, it is because we loaded those magazines and pulled that trigger ourselves.
Meet the Editor
Nick Hall, Founder and Editor
I started USA Gun Shop in 2018 after more than 30 years as a professional journalist and product reviewer. Before firearms, I spent decades as a motoring journalist testing and reviewing cars, motorcycles, and motorsport technology for publications including Forbes, The Sunday Times, Tatler Asia, Playboy US, and Penthouse.
That background shaped how I approach firearms reviews. Motoring journalism taught me that a proper review means seat time, not spec sheets. You have to drive the car to review it. The same applies to guns. You have to shoot them, carry them, strip them down, and put thousands of rounds through them before you have anything useful to say.
I have been shooting for more than 35 years. I test every major firearm category we cover on the site, from concealed carry pistols to precision rifles to tactical shotguns. When I write that a gun has a mushy trigger or a sharp recoil impulse, that opinion comes from decades of trigger time across hundreds of different firearms.
I believe the firearms market deserves the same level of honest, independent journalism that the automotive industry gets. That is what I am building here.
How We Test and Review Firearms
We hold ourselves to a testing standard that goes beyond what most firearms media delivers. Every gun review on this site follows a structured protocol.
- Minimum round count: We put a minimum of 500 rounds through every gun we review. Our in-depth reviews typically run 1,000 to 2,000 rounds across multiple range sessions and ammunition types.
- Multiple ammunition brands: We test with a variety of loads including budget range ammo (Blazer Brass, Winchester White Box), mid-tier (Federal American Eagle), and premium defensive or hunting loads (Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot, Hornady). A gun that only runs on expensive ammo gets marked down.
- Accuracy benchmarking: We shoot measured groups at 7, 15, and 25 yards (handguns) or 50, 100, and 200+ yards (rifles) from both bench rest and standing positions. We report actual group sizes, not “it shoots great.”
- Reliability tracking: Every malfunction is logged with the round count, ammunition brand, and nature of the failure. We report the real numbers.
- Carry and handling time: For concealed carry guns, we carry them daily for at least two weeks before publishing a review. Comfort, concealment, and draw speed matter as much as range performance.

How We Find You the Best Prices
Our live pricing system searches inventory and prices across more than 100 online firearms retailers in real time. When you see a price widget on a review or roundup post, those are live results showing what is actually in stock right now. We do not list outdated prices or dead links.
Our retail partners include some of the biggest and most trusted names in the firearms industry:
- Palmetto State Armory
- Brownells
- Guns.com
- Sportsman’s Warehouse
- EuroOptic
- MidwayUSA
- Sportsman’s Guide
- Firearms Depot
We earn a small commission when you purchase through our links. You never pay anything extra. This affiliate revenue is how we keep the site running, pay for ammunition and range time, and maintain our editorial independence. We do not accept sponsored content or pay-for-play reviews.

Editorial Independence
No manufacturer has ever paid us to review a product. No retailer has ever influenced a review score. We do not accept sponsored posts, paid placements, or “gifted” firearms in exchange for coverage. Every gun we review is either purchased by us or borrowed from a local dealer and returned.
Our affiliate relationships are with retailers, not manufacturers. We earn the same commission regardless of which brand you buy. This means we have zero financial incentive to recommend one brand over another. If a $299 PSA Dagger outperforms a $600 competitor, we say so. If a premium gun has problems, we report those problems.
For our full editorial guidelines, see our Editorial Policy.
