Why This Layout Works
The full-size grip and compact slide combination has been quietly winning for years, and the reason is simple. The grip is what prints and the slide is what does not.
A grip is the widest, longest, most stubborn part of a carry gun. It is what pokes out under a shirt when you lean forward. A slide is thin and sits along the body.
So a shorter slide barely helps concealment and costs you sight radius. A shorter grip helps a lot and costs you rounds and control. Which means, for a lot of people, the sensible compromise runs the other way from what the industry sold for a decade.
The Three Guns
The base RM1CX has a 4 inch hammer-forged barrel, a Tenifer-finished steel slide with an RMR footprint cut, a polymer frame with a Picatinny rail, a flat-face trigger, interchangeable backstraps and ambidextrous controls. 19+1 in the extended magazine. $469.
The Comp adds an integrated compensator. On a 9mm that is a real, measurable reduction in muzzle rise and a real increase in noise and flash, which is the trade nobody mentions in the marketing. $549.

The Compliance Note Is Worth Reading
Rost Martin says models with 10 round and 15 round magazines are also available to meet state compliance requirements.
That sounds like housekeeping and it is not. A new manufacturer that skips compliant configurations writes off California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Colorado, Washington and several more on day one.
Doing it at launch rather than two years later suggests a company that plans to be around. For a brand still building a reputation, that is a more useful signal than any spec on the sheet.
Who It Is For
If you carry a compact and keep wishing it held more, this is the answer to that specific complaint. Nineteen rounds in a gun that weighs 23 ounces empty is a lot of capacity for the size.
If you carry deep concealment, appendix, in a t-shirt, this is not it. The grip that makes the gun good is the grip that makes it visible.

The Honest Caveat
Rost Martin is a young company. The RM1 has been out long enough to have a reasonable reputation and not long enough for anyone to have put 20,000 rounds through one and written it up.
That is not a knock, it is a fact about new brands, and it applies to every manufacturer at this stage. What you are buying at $469 is a well-specified gun from a company with a short track record.
