Weapon Light & Laser Brands FAQ
How many lumens do I need on a weapon light?
For most home-defense and duty use, 300-1,000 lumens with good candela (throw) is plenty. More lumens are not always better – candela matters for reach, and too much light indoors can wash out your own vision.
Weapon light or handheld?
Ideally both. A weapon light frees both hands and indexes with the muzzle; a handheld is more flexible for searching and everyday tasks without pointing a gun. Many shooters carry one of each.
Are lasers worth it?
A laser helps in awkward shooting positions and for fast, both-eyes-open aiming. Pair it with iron sights or an optic rather than relying on it alone. Brands like Crimson Trace specialize in pistol lasers.
