Quick take: Taurus now sells the TX22 .22 LR pistol with a Strike Industries FSA Lite folding brace installed, or set up to take one. There are five models on Taurus’s site, from $416.99 without the brace to $507.99 with it.
- What it is: The TX22 rimfire pistol with a brace mount, sold with or without the Strike Industries FSA Lite folding brace.
- Prices: $416.99 for the brace-ready models and $507.99 for the models with the brace installed.
- Features: RMSc-cut TORO optic slide, 4.6 inch barrel, threaded on most models, 16 and 22 round magazines.
- Compliant versions: 10-round models in both configurations, including non-threaded versions.
The TX22 is a cheap, high-capacity .22 pistol that a lot of shooters already own. A brace turns it into something closer to a tiny carbine, and with a can on the end it may be the quietest fun you can have at a range.

What Taurus Released
Taurus added five TX22 brace models to its site on October 15. The With Brace model ships with the Strike Industries FSA Lite folding brace installed. The Brace-Ready model has the mount but no brace, for owners who want to pick their own.
Taurus’s description is short on hedging: “Available with the Strike Industries FSA Lite folding brace installed, the Brace-Ready TX22 gives you an additional point of support for steadier, more controlled shooting.”
Every model keeps the TORO slide, which Taurus says is “cut for RMSc pattern optics,” so a compact red dot mounts without an adapter plate.
Specs and Weight
The standard With Brace model, item 1-3TX22P141-MB, is a single-action .22 LR with a 4.6 inch threaded barrel, a polymer frame and a hard anodized aluminum slide. It is 19.5 inches long with the brace out and weighs 24.9 ounces unloaded.
The Brace-Ready version without the brace, item 1-3TX22P141, is 10 inches long and weighs 17.30 ounces. So the brace adds 7.6 ounces and 9.5 inches when it is deployed, and $91 to the price.
Both ship with one 16-round and one 22-round magazine. Safeties are a striker block, a manual safety and a trigger safety, and the sights are a fixed white dot front with an adjustable white dot rear.
All Five Models and Prices
Here is the lineup as Taurus lists it. The Brace Ready TB, with a threaded barrel and 16 and 22 round magazines, is $416.99. The Brace Ready 10 Round, unthreaded with two 10-round magazines, is also $416.99.
The With Brace TB, threaded with 16 and 22 round magazines, is $507.99. The With Brace 10 Round comes in threaded and non-threaded versions, each with two 10-round magazines, and both are $507.99.
Taurus says “State-compliant models are available as well.” Check your own state’s rules on magazine capacity, threaded barrels and braces before you buy, because those vary more than the gun does.
The Suppressor Angle
The threaded barrel is the quiet half of this story. Taurus’s own page tells buyers to pair the gun with “the all-new TTX22 titanium suppressor from Taurus USA,” which we covered when Taurus launched its TTX suppressor line.
A suppressed .22 with a brace and a red dot is about as easy as shooting gets. Light recoil, little noise and three points of contact make it a good trainer for new shooters, and it is the sort of setup that fills range time without emptying your wallet on ammo.

Should You Buy One?
If you already like the TX22, this is the same gun with more stability and a lot more fun built in. Our Taurus TX22 review covers how the base pistol shoots.
If you are shopping .22 pistols more broadly, our best .22 LR pistols guide compares it with the other rimfire pistols worth buying. The brace version is the one to get if you want a plinker that behaves more like a small carbine.
Same TX22. More attitude, as Taurus puts it.
