Taurus Raging Hunter .350 Legend Gets an 8 3/8-Inch Barrel

Last updated October 2026 · By Nick Hall, who put 600 rounds through a .44 Magnum Raging Hunter for our review

Quick take: Taurus has launched an 8 3/8-inch Raging Hunter in .350 Legend, a shorter and lighter version of the long-barrel .350 Legend revolvers it has listed since November 2025. It’s $1,421.99 MSRP, $156 under the 10.5-inch and 14-inch guns, and it weighs 55 ounces instead of 79 or more.

  • What it is: A six-shot DA/SA Raging Hunter in .350 Legend with an 8 3/8-inch ported barrel, full moon clips, a fixed front sight and a fully adjustable rear.
  • Price: Taurus lists the two-tone model (item 2-35085RH) at $1,421.99 MSRP, against $1,577.99 for both the 10.5-inch and 14-inch .350 Legend Raging Hunters.
  • Where: Taurus posted the product page on October 21, 2026, and its release dated October 22 says the gun “launches today” in two-tone or black.
  • Why it matters: At 14.8 inches and 55 ounces it is the first .350 Legend Raging Hunter sized like a conventional hunting revolver rather than a handheld carbine.

Taurus’s first two .350 Legend Raging Hunters were big guns. The 14-inch model is 20.5 inches long and 83.4 ounces unloaded, which is a lot of gun to hang off a belt. We pulled the spec sheets for all three straight from Taurus so you don’t have to, and the new one wins on weight, length and price by real margins.

What Taurus Put in the 8 3/8-Inch Raging Hunter

Taurus’s product page lists the new gun as the Raging Hunter .350 Legend 8 3/8-inch, six rounds, two-tone, item number 2-35085RH and UPC 725327639039. It’s a large-frame DA/SA revolver with a stainless steel barrel, a matte black oxide cylinder and a transfer bar safety.

The numbers are 14.8 inches long, 6.6 inches tall, 1.80 inches wide and 55 ounces unloaded. The front sight is fixed and the rear is fully adjustable.

The Raging Hunter hardware carries over. Taurus credits factory-tuned porting and a gas expansion chamber with cutting muzzle lift, and the grip is the cushioned insert design the line is known for.

Taurus’s release adds a non-fluted cylinder, which it says “increases weight to help reduce recoil”, and the Taurus Double Lock System, which “keeps the cylinder secure when firing the heaviest of magnums”.

Then the clips. The .350 Legend is Winchester’s straight-walled hunting cartridge, and the release says the six-shot revolver “uses full moon clips for fast reloading”. Six rounds go in and come out as one unit.

Shorter, Lighter and $156 Cheaper Than the Long Guns

Taurus has listed the .350 Legend Raging Hunter since November 2025 in two barrel lengths. Its 10.5-inch .350 Legend page gives that gun as 16.5 inches long and 79.40 ounces, and the 14-inch model is 20.5 inches and 83.40 ounces. Both carry a $1,577.99 MSRP.

Against those, the 8 3/8-inch gun is 24.4 ounces lighter than the 10.5 and 28.4 ounces lighter than the 14. It is 1.7 inches shorter than the 10.5 and 5.7 inches shorter than the 14, and it costs $156 less than either.

The shape is different too. Taurus’s photos of the long guns show a short rail housing over an exposed, fluted stainless barrel, a muzzle brake and a fiber-optic front sight. The 8 3/8-inch gun in Taurus’s gallery has the classic Raging Hunter shroud running the full length of the barrel, with the ports cut into the end of it and a top rail along the shroud.

That makes it the odd one out in this lineup. It isn’t the long-range handgun the 14-inch is and it isn’t a carry gun. It’s a third thing, closer to the scoped .44 Magnum deer revolvers hunters already know than to either of the long .350s.

The .44 Magnum Raging Hunter Backdrop

Here’s the number that frames it. Taurus lists the two-tone .44 Magnum Raging Hunter with an 8.37-inch barrel at 15.00 inches long, 55.00 ounces and $1,183.99. The new .350 Legend gun is the same weight, a fifth of an inch shorter and $238 more.

So the premium buys the cartridge, not a bigger gun. If your state’s deer rules point you toward straight-walled cartridges and you already run .350 Legend in a rifle, one round for both guns is the whole pitch. If you don’t, the .44 Magnum Raging Hunter does the same job for less money.

I put 600 rounds through a 6.75-inch .44 Magnum Raging Hunter for our Taurus Raging Hunter review, and the porting genuinely cuts muzzle rise while the cushioned grip soaks up what the ports miss. We have not shot the .350 Legend version, which launched on October 22.

If you’re still picking a straight-wall round, our .350 Legend vs .450 Bushmaster comparison covers that trade, and the 8 3/8-inch gun now gives the .350 a revolver that fits the list of hunting handguns most deer hunters would actually carry.

When You Can Buy the 8 3/8-Inch .350 Legend Raging Hunter

Taurus’s release, dated October 22, 2026, says the gun “launches today”, and the two-tone product page is live with a $1,421.99 MSRP. That’s list price, and dealers set their own once guns land.

The release says it is available “in two-tone or black finishes”. Taurus has posted a product page and price for the two-tone only so far.

“The 8-inch model was developed directly in response to consumer feedback requesting a shorter version, and it delivers everything shooters love about the Raging Hunter in a handier revolver,” said Caleb Giddings, General Manager of Marketing at Taurus USA, in the release.

But check two things before ordering. Your state’s rules on handgun hunting and cartridge type decide whether this gun is legal for deer where you hunt, and you’ll want spare moon clips on hand, since the product page does not list how many come in the box.

Same cartridge. Same Raging Hunter. A pound and a half less to carry up the ridge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Taurus Raging Hunter 8 3/8-inch .350 Legend?

It is a six-shot, double-action/single-action Taurus Raging Hunter revolver chambered in .350 Legend with an 8 3/8-inch ported barrel. Taurus lists it at 14.8 inches long and 55 ounces unloaded, with a fixed front sight, a fully adjustable rear sight and a transfer bar safety. The two-tone model is item number 2-35085RH.

How much does the 8 3/8-inch .350 Legend Raging Hunter cost?

Taurus lists the two-tone 8 3/8-inch model at an MSRP of $1,421.99. The 10.5-inch and 14-inch .350 Legend Raging Hunters are both listed at $1,577.99. Dealer prices can differ from MSRP.

Does the .350 Legend Raging Hunter use moon clips?

Yes. Taurus says the six-shot revolver uses full moon clips for fast reloading, so the six rounds load and unload as one unit. The product page does not list how many clips come in the box, so plan on buying spares.

How is the 8 3/8-inch model different from the 10.5-inch and 14-inch versions?

It is shorter, lighter and cheaper. Taurus lists it at 55 ounces and 14.8 inches, against 79.40 ounces and 16.5 inches for the 10.5-inch gun and 83.40 ounces and 20.5 inches for the 14-inch. The long guns have an exposed fluted barrel, a muzzle brake and a fiber-optic front sight, while the 8 3/8-inch gun has a full-length ported shroud and a fixed front sight.

Is there a black version of the 8 3/8-inch .350 Legend Raging Hunter?

Taurus's launch release says the 8 3/8-inch model comes in two-tone or black finishes. At launch, Taurus had posted a product page and price for the two-tone version.

Can you mount a scope or red dot on the Raging Hunter .350 Legend?

Yes. Taurus's photos show a rail along the top of the 8 3/8-inch gun's barrel shroud, the same layout as the other shrouded Raging Hunters, so a red dot or pistol scope can go on it.

How does the .350 Legend Raging Hunter compare to the .44 Magnum Raging Hunter?

They are close to the same size. Taurus lists the two-tone .44 Magnum Raging Hunter with an 8.37-inch barrel at 15.00 inches and 55.00 ounces for $1,183.99, while the 8 3/8-inch .350 Legend model is 14.8 inches and 55 ounces for $1,421.99. The extra money buys the cartridge, which matters most if you already shoot .350 Legend in a rifle.

That depends on your state. Handgun hunting rules and cartridge rules for deer are set state by state. Check your state wildlife agency's current regulations before you hunt with it.
