What is the Attraction With Vintage Guns
Well if you’re like me, then you like a bargain, you dig the history and it’s nice to shoot guns that have carved their name into history. You might even have used these guns in Call of Duty and now just want to get a feel for the real thing.
There is also something deeply satisfying about taking an 11lb hunk of wood and metal and hitting targets or game at 600 yards. A vintage military surplus rifle can also prove a surprisingly good hunting rifle. Get a solid Mosin-Nagant with the sniper kit and you can take down most game at up to 700 meters. It’s not quite a Creedmoor, there is some drop-off with this old, big bullet. But it’s an amazingly accurate mid-range rifle that made the Russian snipers famous.

Where to Buy an M1 Garand?
The M1 Garand was issued to every American soldier from the 1930s onwards. The Mosin-Nagant, and later the AK-47, found their way into the hands of every Russian and the Mauser and Lee Enfield have both been thrust into the hands of new recruits who had no idea what was coming.
These weapons were absolute beaters. They were designed to live in the trenches, to survive freezing cold, brutal heat and just about everything in between. They didn’t need a Cerakote finish, they were just meant to be there.

That means it’s a faithful hunting rifle that really doesn’t need much maintenance. If you’re going to use it for that, stay away from the collectible guns. Get a cheap, honest, straight gun and keep it forever. Even as a back up, the only thing going against it is the weight from the old-school wood and iron.
Don’t get sucked into a bidding war for vintage guns if you want to use the rifle. Just get a solid weapon, from the right era, and then be prepared to fix her up as you go. She’ll probably never be pretty, but she will work every single time.
