Will a BCA upper run? Usually, yes. Will it shoot sub-MOA? Almost certainly not. Expect 2-3 MOA groups with decent ammo and a prayer. The fit and finish ranges from “acceptable” to “did they even look at this?” But here’s the thing: for $170, you can build a complete AR-15 for under $350, and that gun will go bang when you pull the trigger.

I wouldn’t bet my life on a BCA upper, but for range plinking, introducing new shooters, or building a beater .300 Blackout upper, it fills a niche that nothing else does. Inspect it, test it, and run it.

Chrome-Lined vs Nitride: Which Barrel Treatment?

Chrome-lined barrels last longer under high-volume fire and handle corrosive ammo better. They’re the military standard for a reason. Most chrome-lined barrels will go 15,000-20,000+ rounds before meaningful accuracy degradation. The downside is a slight accuracy penalty compared to nitride, typically around 0.25-0.5 MOA.

Nitride (QPQ/Melonite) barrels are more accurate out of the box and cheaper to produce. They’re plenty durable for most civilian shooters (10,000+ rounds easily).
