Cheap Guns and Where to Buy Them in 2026

1. Taurus G2C

• Caliber: 9mm

OK it’s not a massive saving, but the price of the subcompact 9mm Taurus does seem to fluctuate between $200-250, depending on the dealer.

This discount Taurus is just over $200. This is a legitimately good deal then and it might convince you to pull the proverbial trigger on this personal defense star. The Taurus G3C is another good option.

Cheap handguns used to mean a Hi-Point. Taurus has changed the game in the 9mm pistols market.

It’s the proper double stack version with the higher magazine capacity, rather than the single stack Taurus G2S, and this is the gun that has been making waves and is widely considered the best concealed carry for sale in 2026 if you are aiming cheap.

Hi Point firearms are cheaper, but these are cheap and good discount gun options.

2. Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm

• Caliber: 9mm

The best selling Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield 2.0 9mm pistol is one of the finest carry pistols on the market today and at this price the single stack pistol is still a perfectly viable carry handgun in 2026, even with the recent advances in the S&W line.

It seriously can drop closer to the $300 mark if you find the right gun deals for this S&W M&P 9mm pistol. You get a discount gun that absolutely does the job. That is Taurus money for, not a Taurus…

People use the little Smith & Wesson M&P as an EDC all the time, and at this price then it becomes an absolute bargain of a gun. Compare it to the Glock G19 Gen5, and you’ll see the stainless steel slide scallops and grooves make it easy to manipulate and the grip angle is awesome.

It‘s slimline, the S&W M&P is ergonomically sound and it would be a contender for the single-stack subcompact 9mm title if it launched today.

At this price, this Smith and Wesson black polymer special is within touching distance of the Taurus G2C 9mm pistol in terms of price, but it’s another level in terms of fit and finish.

If you want a well sorted polymer 9mm subcompact handgun, you could do a lot worse than the S&W M&P semi automatic pistol in your gun safes.

3. Palmetto State Armory M4 Freedom

• Caliber: 223 Rem/5.56 NATO

This is one of the benchmark budget AR-15s and a consistent star in our list of the best cheap AR-15s for $500,.

Palmetto State Armory has come up with a complete deal and a parts list that is frankly insane for a gun that costs this much. on paper, this is a world beater.

The reality is you will get a great rifle for the money and you can even save more money and buy a PSA Blem rifle with visual blemishes.

It’s that kind of rifle and probably won’t be the long range shooting winner at the range.

But it’s perfect for an optics ready starter AR-15 and you have to say this is the archetype cheap gun. The industry owes a gentle nod of thanks to Palmetto State Armory for keeping prices ground in reality and producing solid guns for the money.

Buy a gun online at PSA and you’ll see they have great deals on big name rifles and other firearm sales. It’s our best gun store of 2026 for a reason. Buy guns online, and PSA also do great bulk rifle ammo deals.

4. Stevens 320 Security

• Caliber: 12 Gauge

This is a functional pump action shotgun with great reviews for less than $180. And that is just the start of the good news with these popular models.

Stevens is actually a sub-division of Savage Arms, perennial kings of the cheap rifles sector. Here, Savage has built a pretty decent Benelli M4 clone for bargain basement money.

It is a 5+1 shotgun and you can see many more of those in our best pump action shotguns post.

This rotary bolt shotgun gets dual slide bars for a tight feel for months to come and a solid racking action.

You can use 3 inch shells and there is a choke tube for fine tuning your blast zone with buckshot and smooth cycling slugs. Get the best 12 gauge ammo and this is a solid shotgun.

5. Savage Axis II

• Caliber: 243 Win/308 Winchester/30-06 Springfield/6.5 Creedmoor…

The Savage Axis II is a bolt action rifle you can order in a wide range of calibers, from 223 Remington through to 30-06 Springfield and 308 Winchester. That is some seriously long range ammo.

A bolt action rifle that has remained basically unchanged for decades. You get a synthetic stock, an adjustable Accutrigger and a button rifled sporter barrel that many think is a match for barrels and platforms costing multiple times more.

Basically your hunting gear will cost more than your long range rifle, and that shows how cheap this Savage Arms special really is. And it’s accurate enough for basic shooting sports.

You should also look for cheap 308 Winchester ammo, which tends to be much cheaper than the Springfield ammo. If you’re looking to save money, that matters.

6. Rock Island Armory 1911 GI Standard

• Caliber: 45 ACP

Rock Island Armory has become the face of cheap 1911 pistols and is increasingly showing signs of dominance with double stack 45 ACP 1911s out there on the market.

This is the best-selling entry-level 45 pistol with 8+1 rounds, smooth wood grips and a parkerized finish. There’s nothing fancy here, but it is a functional full size single action 1911 for less than $500. And that is kind of amazing if you’re looking to buy a gun online then these semi-automatic pistols are worth a look.

7. Springfield Armory XD Defender

• Caliber: 9mm/45 ACP Ammo

This is basically Springfield Armory XD Mod 2 minus the fiber optic night sights and the ridiculous Grip Zone stippling. You might even like the look of the this Defender a little more as it really is a Gen 1, more or less.

We found 45 ACP ammo and 9mm versions of the compact handgun with the 4″ barrel, and now we have found a 3 inch barrel Defender Sub-Compact pistol. This isn’t just a cheap gun, it’s a great cheap gun.

The Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro 9mm pistol is one of our favorite handguns these days, but obviously that’s more expensive. As is the Glock G43x and even the Canik Mete MC9 9mm.

8. ATI Omni Hybrid Max

• Caliber: 5.56 NATO

This is a classic M4-style AR-15 that doesn’t spring many surprises, but just does everything slightly better than its discount guns peers.

Of course there’s a catch. The optics ready ATI rifle has plastic receivers, reinforced with metal brackets, that ATI swears is the next step in rifle tech. I mean we have no issue with polymer framed handguns. Sooooo, yeah, maybe.

You can buy a flat out Colt M4 Clone with the Vietnam style plastic handguard and fixed front sight. Or this version with the free floating handguard that provides 10 inches of M-LOK Rail. If you’re looking to buy a gun today, we’d take this one.

Get a decent red dot and you have got a hell of a rifle on your hands for basic money. It is also a seriously lightweight AR-15 for a fraction of the money of more advanced top gun offerings. At this price, you can’t regret buying this. Scopes & optics cost more…

Look out for daily deals on gun accessories and rifle ammo deals, too, and bulk deals on 5.56 NATO rifle ammo.

9. Ruger Security 9

• Caliber: 9mm

The Ruger Security 9 is a budget friendly striker fired pistol that is available as a compact or suibcompact 9mm pistol.

Now the Ruger Security 9 is not spectacular. It’s basic and simple, but then that is totally the point.

10. Kel-Tec Sub 2000

• Caliber: 9mm Luger

This Kel-Tec Sub 2000 fires 9mm ammo from Glock magazines. It also folds in the middle and you can throw it in a backpack, which makes it super versatile.

9mm ammo is increasingly popular for home defense because it will does not overpenetrate. This 9mm carbine rifle is also super lightweight and basically anybody can handle both it and the minimal recoil.

So it’s an oddball choice for home defense, but it also would work. Especially with red dot sights up top.

11. Taurus GX4

• Caliber: 9mm Luger

The Taurus GX4 has a slightly shorter barrel than the G2C and that makes it a true micro compact 9mm pistol. It also has a better fit and finish and costs slightly more than the other handgun, if that helps justify it.

The differences are minor, way less pronounced than the similarities, but the experts agree that the Taurus GX4 semi automatic pistol is worth the extra money if you can find it when you buy cheap guns online.

Both these popular models continue to sell in crazy numbers, though. And we should really include the Taurus G3C compact discount guns as well.

12. CVA Wolf V2

• Caliber: 50 Caliber

A 50 caliber rifle under $200. Think about that magnificent fact for a moment. Then get a taste of reality, because this is a break action black powder rifle.

It is 50 Cal, but it is not a 50 BMG killer and never will be. It is a fun, pretty big bore rifle, though, for almost no money.

This is a legit hunting rifle with the right optics, scopes etc fitted to those rings up top. You also get a fiber optic front sight, which is pretty wild at this price point, and it’s drilled and tapped for scopes & optics if you’re going for shooting sports or even hunting.

You can get a single shot, lever action & bolt action rifle chambered in 308 Winchester ammo and other calibers, too.

13. Ruger LCP 380 Auto

• Caliber: 380 ACP

This is the first generation Ruger LCP 380 ACP semi auto pistol. The second gen semiautomatic pistol is slightly more expensive, but you can choose what you like.

This classic discount gun is $279.99, now it’s bouncing around and you should always check the prices for a new Mk2, or something better, before you spend this much money on one of these 380 Auto handguns. You need a real reason not to buy the Taurus G2C that is much higher up on this list at this price. But at $169.99, these are cheap.

We don’t need to tell you too much else about this black polymer frame gun. It’s a concealed carry legend and arguably the best pocket pistol or a sock gun if you like a back up and specifically want a .380 Auto.
