Concealed carry on a skinny frame is a width problem more than a weight problem. Less torso real estate means a 1.3-inch gun prints; a 1.0-inch gun disappears. The micro compact wave of the last six years has finally given lean-build carriers a real shelf to pick from, and every gun on this list is at or under 1.10 inches wide.

The XRAY3 night sights and the factory trigger are both genuinely good, not “good for a micro,” just good. Trigger breaks at around 5.5 pounds with a tactile reset that’s easy to ride. With the 12-round extension you get a full grip and meaningful capacity in a footprint barely bigger than a wallet.

On a skinny frame, that extra hundredth of an inch does not print noticeably more, and the shootability dividend is real.

The miss on the base model is no factory optic cut. If you want a red dot, you’re stepping up to the Performance Center model, which adds about $200. For iron-sights carriers, the standard Shield Plus is hard to beat for the money.
