CMMG Ships the Zeroed Banshee With the Can Already On It

Last updated September 2026 · By Nick Hall, who has spent enough time tuning gas on a suppressed build to appreciate someone else doing it

Quick take: CMMG has put out a Zeroed Banshee that ships as a complete suppressed pistol. The ZEROED 36 is already on the 6.5 inch barrel and the gun is set up around it. Six months ago this product would have made no sense to sell, because the can was a nine month wait. Now it is a box you take home.

  • What it is: the Zeroed Banshee Suppressed Pistol, 9x19mm, sold with a ZEROED 36 suppressor mounted.
  • The numbers: 6.5 inch barrel, 27 to 29.5 inches overall depending on brace position, 6.3 lbs, MSRP $2,324.95.
  • The action: radial delayed blowback, which is the part that makes a suppressed 9mm pleasant instead of filthy.
  • Colours: Armor Black, Coyote Tan, FS Green, Midnight Bronze and Tungsten. One configuration, five finishes.

The interesting thing is not the gun. It is that a factory suppressed package is now a sane thing for a manufacturer to build.

Why a Factory Package Beats Bolting One On

A suppressor changes how a semi-auto runs. Back pressure goes up, the bolt unlocks earlier, the gun cycles harder and gas comes back at your face.

On a direct blowback 9mm carbine that is genuinely unpleasant. You get a face full of gas, the brass throws in odd directions and the recoil impulse turns into a shove.

CMMG’s radial delayed blowback exists to soften exactly that, and building the whole gun around a specific can means the delay, the buffer weight and the port are all matched to one another rather than approximately right.

The Weight Question

6.3 lbs with the suppressor attached is the number to sit with. That is a complete, suppressed, 9mm firearm weighing about what a bare AR-15 weighs.

Overall length runs 27 to 29.5 inches. For a suppressed gun, that is compact, and the reason is that the can is doing double duty as barrel length rather than hanging off the front of a 16 inch tube.

That combination, short and quiet and light, is the thing people were building themselves. The difference is that the home build required a stamp for the can and often another for the gun.

What $2,324.95 Actually Buys

It is not a cheap gun. A bare Banshee is considerably less, and a decent standalone 9mm can is somewhere in the $700 to $1,100 range depending on what you pick.

Priced against a bare Banshee plus a good can plus the time spent getting the two to work together, it is close to a wash, and you skip the part where you buy a suppressor and then find out it does not tune well with your buffer. CMMG lists the full configuration on its Zeroed Banshee page.

Priced against nothing, it is $2,300 for a 9mm pistol, which is a lot. Whether that reads as good value depends entirely on whether you were buying a suppressor anyway.

Check How Your Dealer Is Transacting

This is the practical bit. The August ruling that made a factory suppressed gun sellable is not a universal instruction to the ATF.

The injunction bars enforcement against the named plaintiffs, their member organisations and those members’ customers. Whether your transfer runs under it depends on who you buy from.

Ask before you order rather than after. Our suppressor buying guide and the state by state suppressor rules both matter here, because a state that bans suppressors bans this gun regardless of what a federal court said.

Where It Sits

As a home defence gun, a suppressed 9mm carbine is close to ideal, because the reason to have one is that firing a rifle indoors without hearing protection does permanent damage in a fraction of a second.

As a range toy it is excellent and everyone in the next bay will like you more.

As a first gun it makes no sense at all, and if that is where you are, the 9mm carbine roundup and the PCC home defence guide are the better starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Zeroed Banshee come with a suppressor?

Yes. It ships as a complete package with a CMMG ZEROED 36 suppressor already mounted on the 6.5 inch barrel, and the gun is set up around it.

What does it weigh?

6.3 lbs, with an overall length of 27 to 29.5 inches depending on brace position. That is with the suppressor attached.

What does it cost?

MSRP is $2,324.95. It is offered in one configuration and five finishes: Armor Black, Coyote Tan, FS Green, Midnight Bronze and Tungsten.

Can I buy one without a tax stamp?

That depends on your dealer and your state. The August 2026 injunction is not a nationwide order, and it does not override state law banning suppressors. Ask the dealer how they are processing the transfer before you order.

What is radial delayed blowback?

CMMG's operating system for pistol calibre ARs. It delays bolt unlocking rather than relying on bolt mass alone, which cuts the gas and harshness that make a suppressed direct blowback 9mm unpleasant to shoot.
