SIG P226-X AGENCY: A Compensated SAO P226 With Agency Arms

Last updated October 2026 · By Nick Hall, longtime DA/SA P226 shooter who tracks SIG Sauer’s hammer-fired lineup for USA Gun Shop readers

Quick take: SIG Sauer’s website now lists the P226-X AGENCY, a single-action-only P226 built with Agency Arms that comes with a compensated slide and a ROMEO-X enclosed red dot already mounted. SIG’s product page lists it at $2,849.99 and marks it coming soon, with no ship date published.

  • What it is: A 9mm, single-action-only P226 with an AX3 adjustable trigger, a single-port integrally compensated slide, a 3.8 in bull barrel and a factory-installed ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO enclosed optic.
  • Price: SIG’s product page lists it at $2,849.99 for either SKU, and EuroOptic had both at $2,599.99, out of stock, on October 8, 2026.
  • Where: SIG’s product page badges the pistol “COMING SOON!” as of October 8, 2026, with no ship date, in a 20-round SKU and a 10-round SKU.
  • Why it matters: It is a P226 with a manual safety and no double-action first shot, so it runs differently from the DA/SA P226 most owners know.

Most factory collaboration pistols are either a paint job (special Cerakote, a logo on the slide) or a parts-bin shuffle with a new name. This one is different. It changes the trigger system, the barrel length and the slide on a pistol whose whole reputation rests on a double-action first shot. We pulled the spec table straight from SIG so you don’t have to.

What SIG and Agency Arms Built Into the P226-X AGENCY

SIG’s product page runs under the line “Two Icons. One Legendary Platform.” and says the pistol “brings together SIG SAUER performance and Agency Arms design in a purpose-built evolution of the legendary P226.” Agency Arms, by its own account, was founded in January 2015 by law enforcement and military veterans, and its build-service menu covers Glock, M&P9, FN, Benelli and the SIG P320.

The Agency parts are easy to spot. SIG lists an Agency Arms enhanced alloy frame with scale front-strap checkering, Agency 5AXIS slide serrations, and custom alloy LOK grip panels cut in the same scale texture. SIG’s photos show AGENCY on the slide.

The whole gun is bronze. SIG lists a stainless steel slide in Bronze Cerakote over an alloy frame in Burnt Bronze Cerakote, with a carbon steel barrel, an M1913 accessory rail, XRAY3 day/night sights and an extended takedown lever.

On the scale it is a heavy pistol. SIG lists 38.1 oz with magazine, a 1.5 in width, a 6.5 in height and a 5.7 in sight radius, and it ships with three 20-round steel magazines. According to SIG, “every element is designed to enhance control, speed, and shootability.”

Why This P226 Is Single-Action Only

The P226 you know is a DA/SA gun. On the P226 MK25, the Navy SEAL pattern pistol, SIG lists the trigger action as “Double Action / Single Action (DA/SA)” and that long first pull followed by short single-action shots is what our SIG P226 review is built around.

Even the regular X-series gun keeps it. SIG’s own P226-X ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO, the closest sibling to this pistol, uses an AX2 adjustable DA/SA trigger and a low-profile decocker.

The Agency gun drops all of that. SIG lists the trigger action as “Single Action Only (SAO)” and the trigger as the AX3 Adjustable SAO, and says it “provides a crisp, customizable trigger press” for the shooter. The page also states plainly: “This firearm is equipped with a manual safety.”

So every pull is the same pull, and the thumb safety is part of every draw. If you have spent years training the double-action first shot, this is a different manual of arms on a familiar frame. If you came up on 1911s, it will feel like home.

One gap in the spec sheet: SIG does not list a pull weight or say how far the AX3 adjusts.

Why a 3.8-Inch Barrel Sits in a Full-Size P226-X AGENCY

SIG classes the pistol as Full-Size, yet the barrel is a 3.8 in bull barrel with a target crown. Both the MK25 and the standard P226-X carry 4.4 in barrels, so the Agency gives up 0.6 inch.

The compensator is why. SIG calls it a single-port integrally compensated slide, and its top-down product photo shows one port cut into the top of the slide in front of the front sight. The barrel stops short, and the gas that follows the bullet out vents up through that port.

SIG says the barrel “pairs with the integrally compensated slide to help reduce muzzle movement and keep the pistol flatter through rapid strings of fire.” It puts no percentage on that claim. I have not handled one, so treat the flat-shooting pitch as SIG’s until the round-counters get theirs.

There is a cost. The sight radius is 5.7 in against 6 in on the standard P226-X, and SIG lists the Agency at 38.1 oz with magazine against 35.1 oz for the P226-X ROMEO-X with its 18-round magazine, which makes the shorter-barreled gun the heavier one by 3 oz.

What SIG-LOC PRO Means for Your Optic Choice

The dot is included. SIG lists a factory-installed ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO reflex sight, fully enclosed, with a circle dot reticle, and SIG sells that optic separately for $579.99. That is real money you do not have to spend after the gun.

The mount is the interesting part. On the standard P226-X page SIG says the optic “mounts directly to the slide from underneath for exceptional retention, an ultra-low deck height, and co-witness with standard-height XRAY3 Day/Night sights.” No plate, no screws coming down through the optic body.

What about a different dot later? On its P385 page, SIG says SIG-LOC PRO “provides direct-mount compatibility with popular optic footprints, including RMR and DPP, without requiring an additional adapter plate.” We covered that cut when the SIG P385 launched.

But the Agency page lists the footprint as SIG-LOC PRO and says nothing more, so confirm fit on this slide before you order a second optic. Most buyers will never need to.

The 10-Round SKU, the $2,849.99 List Price and When You Can Buy One

There are two SKUs. The 226X-9-AGENCY-RXSL ships with three 20-round steel magazines, and the 226X-9-AGENCY-RXSL-10 ships with three 10-round steel magazines. Everything else in SIG’s spec table is the same.

The 10-round version is the one to ask your dealer for if your state caps magazine capacity, and our state gun law directory shows where those limits apply. Capacity is only one rule a restricted state can set, so check your own state’s law before you put a deposit down.

Now the money. SIG’s product page lists it at $2,849.99, the same figure for the 20-round and the 10-round SKU. The ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO that comes mounted sells for $579.99 by itself, so the optic accounts for about a fifth of SIG’s list price.

EuroOptic, the one dealer in our catalog with the pistol so far, had both SKUs at $2,599.99 on October 8, 2026, which is $250 under SIG’s list price, though it showed the 20-round gun and the 10-round gun alike as out of stock.

What SIG has left blank is the date. The page carries the “COMING SOON!” badge and no ship date for either SKU.

It does carry SIG’s Infinite Guarantee, billed on the page as “FULLY-TRANSFERABLE” with no receipts and no warranty cards.

Bronze. Compensated. Single-action. Still a P226.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SIG P226-X AGENCY?

It is a 9mm P226 that SIG Sauer built with Agency Arms. It has a single-action-only AX3 adjustable trigger, a single-port integrally compensated slide with Agency 5AXIS serrations, a 3.8 in bull barrel, an Agency Arms enhanced alloy frame, alloy LOK grips, a burnt bronze Cerakote finish and a factory-installed ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO enclosed red dot.

How much does the SIG P226-X AGENCY cost?

SIG's product page lists it at $2,849.99 for both the 20-round and the 10-round SKU. On October 8, 2026, EuroOptic had both at $2,599.99, out of stock. The ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO optic that comes installed sells for $579.99 separately, about a fifth of SIG's list price.

When will the SIG P226-X AGENCY be available?

SIG has not given a ship date. Its product page shows a coming soon badge and nothing more, so check with a SIG dealer for availability.

Is the P226-X AGENCY DA/SA or single-action?

It is single-action only. SIG lists the trigger action as Single Action Only (SAO) with an AX3 adjustable trigger, and the pistol has a manual safety. Standard P226 models such as the MK25 are DA/SA.

What optic comes on the P226-X AGENCY?

A ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO enclosed reflex sight with a circle dot reticle is installed at the factory, backed up by XRAY3 day/night sights. The slide uses SIG's SIG-LOC PRO footprint, which mounts the optic directly to the slide.

Why does the P226-X AGENCY have a 3.8-inch barrel?

The slide is integrally compensated, with a single port ahead of the front sight. The 3.8 in bull barrel stops short of that port so gas can vent upward, which SIG says helps reduce muzzle movement. The P226 MK25 and the standard P226-X use 4.4 in barrels.

Is there a 10-round version of the P226-X AGENCY?

Yes. SIG lists two SKUs: the 226X-9-AGENCY-RXSL with three 20-round steel magazines and the 226X-9-AGENCY-RXSL-10 with three 10-round steel magazines. Buyers in states with magazine capacity limits should still confirm the pistol is legal to buy where they live.

How much does the P226-X AGENCY weigh?

SIG lists it at 38.1 oz with magazine. SIG also lists a 1.5 in width and a 6.5 in height.
