The Ordering Mistake People Actually Make
Buttstocks are the most confusing thing to search for on the entire rifle, and it is not your fault. It is the naming.
Magpul alone will sell you an SL-S, an SL-K, an SL-M, a CTR, an MOE, a ZHUKOV-S and an SGA. Those last two are not AR-15 stocks at all. The ZHUKOV-S is for an AK and the SGA is for a Remington 870 shotgun. Every one of them shows up in a search for “Magpul stock”, they all cost roughly the same, and the photographs look similar enough at thumbnail size. I have watched people order an AK stock for an AR build and only find out when it will not go on the buffer tube, because an AK stock does not use one.
Three checks before you click buy, and they take about twenty seconds.
- Does the listing say AR-15, M4 or mil-spec? If it names another platform, or names no platform at all, keep looking.
