A security guard trainee at an Amazon warehouse in Ohio was shot and killed by police after a dramatic series of events on Sunday. Ali Hamsa Yusuf, a 22-year-old trainee, attempted to shoot his supervisor at point-blank range but failed when his gun malfunctioned. This terrifying incident, which occurred at around 4:40 p.m. in West Jefferson, was captured on the warehouse’s surveillance cameras.
The footage revealed Yusuf sneaking up behind his supervisor and aiming his weapon at the supervisor’s head. Fortunately, the gun did not discharge properly, and the bullet narrowly missed the supervisor, leaving him unharmed. Over 100 employees were inside the building.
From the footage it looks like a Taurus G3. So I guess the supervisor can thank his lucky stars trainees don’t get paid enough money to buy the best Glock…
After the failed shooting, Yusuf fled the scene. He was later spotted in Columbus by Madison County authorities. Franklin Township and Columbus police intercepted his vehicle shortly thereafter. Yusuf exited the vehicle and opened fire on a Columbus officer, who was saved by his bulletproof vest.
In the ensuing chaos, Yusuf attempted to escape on foot. Officers returned fire, striking him. Yusuf was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The Columbus officer, a four-year veteran of the force, sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital later that day.
Authorities confirmed that Yusuf was not permitted to carry a firearm while on duty, and the motive behind his actions remains unclear. Yusuf had no known criminal record.
