54% of Americans want to change the gun laws in America. Don’t panic just yet, though, because they’re not all the same side.
A recent Gallup Poll revealed that 46% of the population do want more restrictions, which is a worry, but it’s actually an improvement on 2016 when more than 50% of the population wanted to clamp down.
Just 39% is actually happy with the gun laws right now, eight per cent want less restrictions and that tips the gun lobby over the edge in this rough popularity contest. The American people, on the whole, want to keep their guns.
We might be heading towards the tipping point, where the people themselves demand that the Second Amendment comes under review. We’re not there yet, but it’s certainly looming on the horizon.
Semi-automatic rifles are a bone of contention, although banning bump stocks in the wake of the Las Vegas shootings seems to have diverted attention from the AR15. Sub-machine guns and even high-capacity handguns might come under the microscope, so make sure you’re well stocked up!
