Libert stated it had refused many previous requests without a warrant and would continue to do so. But when there’s a valid warrant to search the house, Liberty will open the safe.
Honestly speaking, Liberty was in a tough spot. Once the law enforcement agency has escalated things to this level, they could probably obtain any papers they need to open the safe.
But Liberty did roll over on its customer straight away.
Outrage is a Reflection of Distrust
Many gun owners are outraged by Liberty Safe’s decision to comply with the FBI’s request. They argue that Liberty Safe has betrayed the trust of its customers by giving the government access to their safes.
