15 Best 9mm Compact Handguns For EDC – 2019

What are the best 9mm compact handguns for concealed carry? Check out these options for your CCW handgun.

This is it, the battle of the best compact 9mm handguns for sale in 2019. We’re not focused on concealed carry handguns here, although you can stow them. This is your EDC, if you don’t like sub-compact 9mm pistols.

Compact carry guns are the volume seller, the big money for the likes of Glock, Sig, HK, Walther and more. It’s a battleground for a reason and it just got more intense.

Glock rested on its laurels, but those times are over. The new entry is sharper and slicker than ever, but this is a cut-throat market and the opposition has some seriously innovative alternatives to the classic grey semi auto pistol.

FN is coming up on the rails with the new FN 509 and companies like ReX have reinvented the wheel with the ReX Zero 1 CP.

Smaller CCW handguns are getting better all the time, too, and you should take a look at our 23 best concealed carry handguns in the world when you’re done here.

So what are the best compact 9mm handguns for sale in 2019?

Sig P320 Compact for sale. One of the best 9mm compact handguns for sale in 2019. Get yours now.

1. Sig Sauer P320 Compact

  • Price: $449.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Overall Length: 7.2 inch
  • Barrel Length: 3.9 inch
  • Height: 5.5 inch
  • Width: 1.3 inch
  • Weight: 1.6lb
  • Capacity: 15+1

The new battle for the best carry 9mm handgun in the market really is coming down to Sig vs Glock. If you have bought into polymer frame striker-fired pistols then it’s this or you can pay much more for basically the same deal with the HK VP9. Don’t, these two both make a better case.

Which of these striker-fired 9mm pistols you choose probably says something about you as a person, or at least your handgun preferences and shooting mentality.

The Sig P320 holds the edge when it comes to the range, or actually pulling your gun. It wins the battle when it’s in your hand. The trigger is sharper, the slide is easier to work with and the ergonomics just feel better.

It loses out in the concealment stakes, just. The Glock is bigger and heavier, but it still manages to slip away without printing. The Sig has better ergonomics in the hand, but you’ll pay a price for that when it’s sat in your belt.

As with everything in life then, the best compact handgun for EDC in your case depends on your personal priorities. That’s why we have a range of compact 9mm pistols here. We just happen to prefer the Sig Sauer P320 Compact.

I am prepared to make small sacrifices in daily life to have the best companion by my side when I need it most. For some people that will still be the Glock. For me, just, it’s the Sig P320 Compact.

The white dot sights are an easy upgrade to fiber optic night sights, there is a burgeoning Sig P320 parts & accessories scene and we’re starting to see some custom Sig Sauer polymer frame 9mm pistols too.

Sig Sauer P320 X-Carry, possibly the best concealed carry 9mm in the world. Buy your gun online today at a discount price.

The Sig Sauer P320 X-Carry is our Personal Favorite

I think the Sig P320 Compact is the pound-for-pound champion in the 9mm pistol class. But if you want to level up and get arguably the best EDC for sale at any price, look at the Sig X-Carry line-up. The five-inch barrel version is one of our favorite full size 9mm pistols for sale in 2019.

The smaller gun is pretty sweet too. It faces competition from the Sig P365 XL, but we still think the X Series is Sig’s best compact 9mm pistol. The larger Sig 365 is clever, but this P320 evolution is our favorite.

You have to spend $600 for what is, in essence, a custom gun. That’s a bargain. Even if you built it yourself, you wouldn’t get change from $1,500 if you tried to do this with a Glock 19 and aftermarket tuning parts.

The stippling is perfect, the gun carries 17+1 rounds, the slide is ported and the gun is competition spec at pretty much every turn. The night sights are a cut above too. You also get a better shooting angle and a pronounced beavertail that protects your hand at the range and gives you a better grip on this carry gun.

It’s an expensive semi auto pistol, but it might just be the best. Buy your Sig X-Carry here.

Where to buy cheap handguns online

Some of our best deals come from places you might not think about. For instance, did you know Palmetto State Armory sells the leading name handguns at bargain prices? We do…

Here are a few places to look for discounts when you’re looking at gunbroker sites online.

Glock 45 9mm - Is this the best 9mm compact handgun for concealed carry in 2019? Buy yours at a discount here.

2. Glock 45 9mm

  • Price: $599.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Overall Length: 7.28 inch
  • Barrel Length: 4.02 inch
  • Width: 1.34 inch
  • Weight: 1.8lb
  • Capacity: 17+1

The Glock G45 is basically the answer to every niggling problem with the semi auto G19 as an EDC and the United States has taken to this compact handgun in a major way. It might just be the new benchmark semi auto pistol for the firearms industry.

It’s not quite perfect. It’s not the most compact 9mm, in fact it’s a little big for concealed carry. But this is a much better carry gun than the G19 even though it’s a service pistol aimed at cops in the United States and military elsewhere.

It’s designed as an open carry sidearm, a polymer frame service handgun for Law Enforcement Officers. That’s why the Glock 45 9mm is built on a G17 frame, with a more compact G19 slide. If that sounds a lot like the G19X, it is.

Cops liked the new Coyote Tan semi auto handgun, but they didn’t like the color. So they asked for a black version, with a few other tweaks. The end result could just be the best compact handgun for sale in 2019 in your book, if not quite mine.

Glock has worked on the details. The trigger is better on this gun, the beavertail is more pronounced, the slide comes with proper serrations up front and even the stippling feels a touch stronger. This is a Glock you don’t need to modify. It’s a Glock you can just buy and shoot.

We aren’t big fans of Glock hardware, but this is better. All the small issues with the Glock 19 have been dealt with and this is a super sharp, super reliable and super accurate compact 9mm carry gun with a 17-round mag capacity.

This is a very solid 9mm semi automatic pistol that goes above and beyond recent efforts.

What’s not to love here? The only problem is there are sexier 9mm pistols here. Way sexier…

Sexier guns won’t kill Glock, ever. It’s a machine that survives on government contracts and people that simply follow the crowd. Law Enforcement Officers buy Glocks at a subsidy and the general public buys them because the cops have them.

It’s a wonderful circular marketing technique and Glock really doesn’t have to worry about the consumer driven firearms fashion show going on elsewhere.

Anyway, if you’re going to buy a Glock, I could tell you it is made from chocolate and sawdust and you’d still go buy one. And you’d be right to, because I would be lying.

ReX Zero 1CP - A new compact 9mm handgun from SLovenia. A metal handgun to ISO standards for polymer pistol money. Yes please...

3. FIME Group ReX Zero 1CP

  • Price: $549.00 (On Sale)
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Overall Length: 7.1 inch
  • Barrel Length: 3.85 inch
  • Height: 5.1 inch
  • Width: 1.1 inch
  • Weight: 1.56lb
  • Capacity: 15+1 Rounds

This is the next generation CZ 75 with a designer look. That’s not a backhanded compliment by the way. We think that’s an awesome start for a handgun.

It’s high-tech, Swiss watch style firearms engineering from a small firm in Slovenia. FIME Group is actually the Las Vegas importer of the ReX Zero 1CP, 1s and the outrageous ReX Alpha that you can find on our list of the best full-size 9mm handguns.

You can run the ReX Zero 1CP like a SAO gun, cocked and locked, or you can go DA/SA, much like the CZ 75 Compact. Using that long double action as its own safety is a great option with a suitable Kydex holster.

If you’re a touch paranoid about safety, this is the gun you want. You get  a separate frame-mounted thumb safety that is fully ambidextrous, along with the mag release. The slide stop doubles as a decocker too.

The frame is machined from aircraft-grade billet 7075 T6 aluminum. The carbon steel slide is produced to the same exacting standard and is then Nitrocarburized to protect the hard work that went into this semi automatic handgun.

The barrel is cold hammer forged from solid barstock. This compact handgun gets full-length slide rails and a steel locking block insert to keep the gun shooting tight and vibration free. It’s another double stack magazine, too, and the single stack seems to be heading out of existence.

This semi auto pistol is next level shiz. And then you’ve got the different colors that are reminiscent, in their own unique gun oil way, of mix and match jewelry.

The 3-dot sights aren’t really the best in this company, but you can pick up a TruGlo kit on Amazon for less than $80.

In fact there is a pretty decent selection of grips and other Rex Zero parts and accessories on Amazon. So if you don’t like the grips, and I could see that, there’s an easy fix here.

It’s an over-engineered semi auto 9mm pistol from Arex in Slovenia. They have been a military supplier for long enough. They know the score, and the ReX brand in the USA is one we’re going to watch with interest.

We’re happy to have them here. This is a metal handgun that takes Single Action or Double Action inputs. It’s as light as a polymer handgun, it shoots tighter and it should be much more durable.

The engineering is way beyond this price range and if it was made on these shores then this gun would probably run into the thousands.

The closest comparison I can offer is a cut down Dan Wesson 1911 and that’s coming up next so you can compare and contrast for yourself.

Spoiler Alert: The ReX Ares 1 CP vs Dan Wesson 1911 is a walkover. The Slovenian import destroys the closest thing we’ve got and the only real rival comes from the less flamboyant CZ. This is lighter, and the best concealed carry as a consequence.

The ReX Ares 1 CP for sale is a stunning semi auto 9mm pistol to look at, it feels like real engineering, magazine capacity is awesome thanks to the double stack, the trigger pull is crisp and it’s a pleasure to shoot.

The chunky metal frame feels solid and the Picatinny rail gives you options when it comes to configuring this 9mm pistol. The magazine release and thumb safety could be more elegant, as could those screw on grips, but they could also be a lot worse.

If you’re about to buy a new compact handgun right now and you want something different, this could be the one.

There are a vast number of aftermarket grips available and you can dress your ReX Zero 1 CP to match your outfit. That’s the other thing, this is modular jewelry in 9mm handgun form.

Take a closer look and prepare to be impressed by this great concealed carry pistol and even better compact 9mm handgun.

Ed Brown KC9 For sale - an evolution of the legendary Ed Brown Kobra Carry. Buy your gun online right now.

4. Ed Brown KC9

  • Price: $1,899
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Barrel Length: 4 inch
  • Total Length: 7.5 inch
  • Weight: 2.12lb
  • Capacity: 9+1

Ed Brown created one of the world’s most famous concealed carry 1911s with the Ed Brown Kobra Carry more than 20 years ago. Now the Ed Brown KC9 continues that legacy and the resulting handgun is a work of art.

The Ed Brown handgun for sale is another one that accidentally highlights the ridiculous value on offer from the ReX Zero, because this gun costs three times as much. The fit and finish is clearly better, but that’s an almighty price difference.

So what do you get for your money? Is this a great value 9mm 1911? Yes, it might just be.

The Bobtail frame has been an Ed Brown concealed carry touch for decades and the snakeskin texture on the grips and custom checkering is something to behold. The Ed Brown KC9 is a much more cohesive design. It’s a prettier gun and if it’s your EDC then it matters.

The crown cut barrel is match-grade and all the details are perfect. For a 1911, the capacity isn’t half bad either. There are higher capacity guns out there. But if you want a 1911 and you’re happy with 10 rounds I a single burst, then this could be your new gun.

Dan Wesson Eco - A 9mm concealed carry 1911 that could become your favorite handgun.

5. Dan Wesson Eco 1911

  • Price: $1,455.99
  • Caliber: 9mm
  • Total Length: 7.25 inch
  • Barrel Length: 3.5 inch
  • Width: 1.45 inch
  • Weight: 1.7lb
  • Capacity: 7+1

As a piece of firearms sculpture, as a carry pistol that will just make you happy, the Dan Wesson Eco is pretty awesome.

Here, though, the concealed carry 1911 is parked right next to the ReX Zero 1 CP so you can see just how good that Slovenian semi auto really is. This compact 1911 is the United State’s answer to the ReX, and it’s no answer at all. As a carry pistol, it can’t even compete.

The Dan Wesson Eco fits the same footprint as the guns above it in this list, but it’s a single stack 1911 with just 7 rounds of magazine capacity. That basically is where it loses. Well, that and the price.

The Dan Wesson 1911 is a thing of beauty and I’d love to own one of these compact 9mm semi-automatic handguns. It’s beautifully finished, the trigger pull is a delight, you get a proper thumb safety on this single action, hammer fired 9mm pistol, and there’s a lot to love about this compact semi auto pistol in isolation.

But it’s the perfect comparison for the ReX, which is aimed at a slightly more accommodating audience in terms of fit and finish. Technically, that gun is another level. If functionality beats form for you, and it really should when it comes to 9mm handguns, then the ReX or the CZ 75 Compact are the guns to buy.

Aesthetically, the single stack Dan Wesson Eco wins this one at a canter. Dan Wesson understands minimalist pistol designs. So it depends if you’re looking for a gun to go with your outfit, or a gun that will go to war. As always, it’s a case of personal priorities.

The Dan Wesson Eco probably won’t be your constant EDC. It’s too pretty for that. It does come with Tritium night sights up front, the manual safety is nice and it really is a well thought out carry pistol. But there are more practical options for daily use.

Instead this will be your special occasion gun, like a great watch that you always wear with a certain suit. It’s a single stack, slim dress gun, which would look just as good in a woman’s purse, and it’s basically jewelry that also happens to boast some of the finest engineering in the 1911 world.

The magazine release, thumb safety and the checkered front and back strap are all perfect.

Technically it might not be amongst the best carry pistols in the world, and that single stack mag really does count against it. But it’s certainly one of the prettiest.

6. Smith & Wesson M&P9 2.0 Compact

  • Price: $429.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Overall Length: 7.4 inch
  • Barrel Length: 4.25 inch
  • Height:
  • Weight: 1.48lb
  • Capacity: 17+1 Rounds

The second generation Smith & Wesson M&P9 probably doesn’t get its dues around here as much as it should. In its own way, this is a near perfect EDC compact carry gun that is just as easy to conceal as the Glock, well close…

It’s one of the lighter semi-automatic pistols here, and even though the Smith & Wesson is a fraction of an inch longer, though, it is basically designed to lie flush in the holster and disappear.

The grip is just stippled enough for a stellar grip, without going for the blocks that can and will print. The Smith & Wesson was designed not to stand out, which can actually cost it in terms of PR value and visual impact in the photos of this 9mm semi auto pistol.

If you carry a Smith & Wesson, though, you’ll know everything just works. It isn’t spectacular, but it has evolved to the point it is pretty much a perfect plastic pistol.

The Smith & Wesson M&P9 already had the slide work at the front that has taken Glock an age to implement. The 2.0 also gets a better finish and an upgraded steel-chassis supporting the polymer frame, a better trigger and a brilliant grip that is set at 18 degrees for a natural shooting position.

Chances are if you don’t quite vibe with a Glock or Sig Sauer, that you and the M&P9 2.0 are a perfect match and it just hasn’t met you yet.

CZ 75 Compact - A great handgun for EDC and one of the best 9mm compact personal defense handguns on sale.

7. CZ 75 Compact

  • Price: $537.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Total Length: 7.3 inch
  • Barrel Length: 3.9 inch
  • Weight: 2.05lb
  • Capacity: 14+1

It says a lot that an Eastern European service pistol designed in 1976, in its basic form, has appeared on pretty much every one of our best 9mm handgun lists. We love this semi auto 9mm pistol and always will.

The CZ 75 B is a semi auto icon and it has given birth to the CZ 2075 Rami, the CZ Shadow that is our favorite of the full-size 9mm carry guns and this, the CZ 75 Compact pistol. It’s an iconic gun that I personally think has left the traditional 1911 long behind.

The double-stack magazine has become commonplace now, but it’s the action and the flexibility that really marks this semi auto apart. That’s because the CZ 75 in all its forms molds to your shooting and concealed carry technique.

If you want cocked and locked condition 1 then that’s no problem. If you want the safety off and a long double action trigger pull as your protection against an accidental discharge then you can go with the DA/SA approach. And if you want a manual safety as well, it’s there.

We love that about this gun and we think it’s an underrated system. The ReX Alpha basically builds on this system and we think that’s going to be a smash hit because of it. But the CZ 75 Compact is the safe bet when it come to reliability and parts supply.

The CZ 75 Compact is 5 inches tall, it doesn’t print and it is basically awesome. It loses out to the very best guns here these days in terms of weight and capacity, but then it’s an elder statesman of the compact 9mm handgun world these days.

This is a gun that has collectively survived thousands of Siberian winters, desert storms and moldy swamps. It has travelled the world and come back firing and that kind of torture test means it has evolved into the near-perfect compact firearm.

It’s up the likes of the ReX Zero 1CP to carry the torch, but if you want the old guard then you’ll find this is still a very capable handgun. It’s one of the great semi-automatic pistols for a reason and if you don’t own one, in some form, then fix that now.

ZEV Tech OZ9 for sale, a metal Glock 19. Is it the perfect handgun?

8. ZEV Technologies O.Z-9

  • Price: $1,595
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Length: 7.32 inch
  • Barrel Length: 4.48 inch
  • Weight: 1.75lb
  • Capacity: 17+1

Technically, this should be the perfect striker fired EDC by design.

ZEV Technologies has carved out an exceptional reputation in the aftermarket Glock parts and custom Glock world. The likes of the G34 Dragonfly are the stuff of legend, but ZEV has its eyes on a greater prize.

Recently it unveiled its own AR-15 line and this is its first proper ground-up handgun. In essence, it’s a refined version of a tuned Glock 19 built around a metal frame.

A metal frame allowed ZEV to build a more balanced gun on a solid foundation that simply wouldn’t flex when fired. They could then go to work on integrating the locking block. A full length slide is another part of the design and the single piece channel is self-cleaning and lubricating.

It’s a slight surprise to see the magwell wasn’t integrated and still looks afterrmarket. In fact the whole gun looks like a tuner firearm and that is probably so the company can keep selling slides and parts & accessories to the Glock faithful.

This gun, though, is a step forward for ZEV Technologies. It’s not a custom Glock anymore, it’s potentially the best carry pistol money can buy. It should be, anyway.

9. Nighthawk Tri Cut Carry 1911 Pistol

  • Price: $4,495
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Barrel Length: 4.25 inch
  • Total Length: 7.5 inch
  • Weight: 1.7lb
  • Capacity: 10+1

This is a custom version of the Nighthawk Commander Carry 1911 that one of the company’s master craftsmen used as his personal application for the American Pistolsmiths Guild.

It goes without saying he is now a member. It also goes without saying this is a batshit insane expensive gun and it’s here for fun really. We dig Nighthawk Custom. We like their work and their story, but this is pushing things….

This was a labor of love that went well beyond any customer specification. This was a technical challenge and a demonstration of gunsmithing excellence.

The tri-cut angled design recurs with metronomic consistency around the gun and it is simply a cut above even Nighthawk’s usual wares.

It’s a jewel, a show piece, and now you get the chance to own this one-off handgun.

The slide cuts help save weight and the gun has a unique pneumatically achieved stippling pattern in strips on the grip and the top of the gun. It’s practical, as well as beautiful and underneath the finishing touched it’s a hell of a carry pistol.

The Nighthawk has a match-grade 4 inch bull barrel, a Nitride coated steel frame and one-piece magwell. The slide is engineered to perfection, the trigger is a flat and a low profile mag release complete the exotic look.

If you want something a little less flash, you can buy the more understated Nighthawk Carry Ultra Light Pistol for $3,775. That’s kind of a bargain, when you think about it…

Where to buy Nighthawk Custom Handguns

Nighthawk Custom guns have taken the world by storm and they now have 40 models on sale that range from double-stack 9mm 1911s through to competitive shooting and hunting revolvers and CCW handguns.

Nighthawk Custom guns for sale are basically awesome, pure gunporn you can spend a whole day looking at. But where do you buy NIghthawk Custom guns? Of course we can help!

FN 509 Service Pistol

10. FN 509

  • Price: $579.99
  • Capacity: 9mm Luger
  • Overall Length: 7.4 inch
  • Barrel Length: 4 inch
  • Weight: 1.68lb
  • Capacity: 17+1 Rounds

Fabrique Nationale built the all-new FN 509 to challenge the Sig Sauer P320 for the US military service handgun contract.

It lost. So now there is a service pistol without a home.

Of course the FN 509 is getting traction and undergoing testing with military units and Law Enforcement Officers around the world right now. It will do well for itself.

That’s because this is an elite handgun. The ergonomics, too, are amazing when you’re shooting. It is designed for the hip, though, and there are a few sharp edges to contend with.

At the range, this is just an epic gun and it might just have the measure of the Glock. It can certainly take the fight to the Sig Sauer, too, and the American military decision might simply have been financial. In terms of quality, there’s nothing to choose between the Sig P320 vs FN 509.

The barrel is cold hammer forged stainless steel, the gun can be stripped in minutes and it’s easy to clean and maintain. It is also super accurate and the trigger is crisper than the tastiest bacon.

In short, this semi-automatic pistol can easily hang with the best of the best. And it’s only going to get better as the Tactical option shows. This gun will evolve, like the FNS did before it. It’s good now, it’s going to be great.

This is a Double Action handgun with no safety. So it really does go into a Battle Royale with the front two. It’s better in the hand than the Sig, but even worse when it comes to concealment thanks to that rugged patterned grip and heavily serrated slide.

Is that a deal breaker? Not for me. Many others have said this is a better all-round 9mm Luger semi auto than a Glock 19. I’m inclined to agree and I think it’s going to sell in droves.

11. Springfield Armory XD Mod.2 Compact

  • Price: $419.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Overall Length: 7.3 inch
  • Barrel Length: 4 inch
  • Height: 5.5 inch
  • Weight: 1.72lb
  • Capacity: 16+1 Rounds

The Springfield Armory XD Mod.2 Compact is plenty of people’s go-to weapon. It does pretty much everything any other gun will do, and it has its own USP that is becoming increasingly important.

The grip safety and trigger safety combination mean it would take the mother of all slip-ups to accidentally discharge this handgun.

You have to be holding it with a proper grip, and be pointing it in a roughly threatening manner, or you just won’t be able to fire it.

Firearms training is essential with any new gun. But spend some time with the Springfield Armory XD Mod 2 and the safeties will become second nature. They never get in the way, but they could save you if the worst happens.

The slimline Springfield Armory handgun for sale is a real winner when it comes to carrying concealed and it comes with just enough detail so you can grip the slide from any angle.

A fiber optic night sight up top and a tack driver of a barrel all combine to produce an absolutely brilliant compact carry gun that serves as an EDC for people right across this land. There’s a Picatinny rail for lazers, lights and other accessories if you want to go tacti-cool too.

With a 16-round mag, this pocket pistol packs alot of punches, too. It’s a cut above a CCW, but it will slip away invisibly just as well as the Glock. Look closely and that’s what you see, a tuned Glock for less money.

This is one of the great 9mm Luger semi auto pistols for sale and could even be better than the company’s much more vaunted 1911 handguns for sale.

12. Sig Sauer P229

  • Price: $929.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Length: 7.4 inch
  • Barrel Length: 3.9 inch
  • Weight: 2.1lb
  • Capacity: 15+1 Rounds

This is one of the finest 9mm compact handguns in America and could easily have topped this list, if the P320 Compact wasn’t quite so good.

It is, so the all-metal P229 plays the support role here. That means we can go looking for the cheapest, no-frills, basic version of the Sig P229 that doesn’t come with any Legion coating or SAS colorscheme.

Check out Lucky Gunner’s review of the Sig P229 Legion here. It is pretty, we do have to say…

This grey and black handgun is actually damned elegant and you can see the craftsmanship you just might think is missing from the modern crop of polymer handguns. You would have a point.

But nothing in life comes for free. There is always a bill in this world….

Here there are two. The Sig P229 is a significantly heavier semi-automatic pistol than the other guns here and that does matter if it lives on your hip. This 9mm pistol also comes with a hefty sticker price, but this could easily be a gun for life if you take care of it.

If you just can’t get along with a plastic handgun, but you know the compact 1911 has had its day and you’re not quite ready for a ReX Zero 1, then the Sig Sauer P229 might be juuuuuuust right.

The Sig P226 is the full-size pistol, and you can find the Sig P226 TACOPS in our best full size 9mm pistol collection. There isn’t much doubt that the Sig P226 is one of the finest guns on the market and the Sig P229 isn’t far behind.

Kimber Master Carry Pro - A great concealed carry pistol that comes at a hefty price.

13. Kimber MFG Master Carry Pro

  • Price: $1,362.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Total Length: 7.7 inch
  • Barrel Length: 4 inch
  • Weight: 1.75lb
  • Capacity: 9+1

Kimber has a bigger reputation in the 45 ACP space, but the Yonkers, New York (really, look it up!) based firm has some badass 9mm 1911 pistols as well.

Now you’ normally have to suck up a weight penalty with a 1911 vs a striker-fired polymer pistol. But seemingly not here. The Kimber weighs in at 1.75lb. It isn’t a flyweight, but it’s not horrendous for a compact handgun.

The Master Carry gets a decent magazine capacity with 9 rounds and this semi-automatic pistol also receives the rounded heel.

Add the luxurious checkering on the front and back strap, the two-tone finish that includes a contrasting, polished ejector port, and it’s easy to see why the Kimber Master Carry Pro costs a little more..

The Crimson Trace in the grip I could do without, and you can find Kimbers without this finishing touch. If you like to mark the spot with a laser, though, this is the best concealed carry 9mm on this list.

Of course you can just buy a Crimson Trace and fit it to a much cheaper handgun. So there’s that…

But, well, it costs a lot more than the cheapest 9mm pistols on this list. Is it worth it? It’s up to you. If your gun is literally a functional tool then no. Technically, this isn’t even the best concealed carry gun here, or the best home defense handgun.

If style counts, though. If you like to love your gun and you believe in functional art and jewelry in firearms form, maybe this semi-automatic pistol is actually is worth the extra money.

It’s a Single Action Only firearm, which means carrying it Condition 1, cocked and locked. But that’s something you get used to. i the end it’s part of the charm of this compact concealed carry 1911 that will put a smile on your face every time your hand touches proper cold steel.

HK VP9 handgun 9mm for sale. A great 9mm handgun for EDC.

14. Heckler & Koch HK VP9

  • Price: $599.99
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Barrel: 4.09 inch
  • Total Length: 7.34 inch

The HK VP9 doesn’t get much love on these pages and it’s down the list here once again. And yet it’s a fantastic semi-automatic pistol. So what gives?

It’s purely a pricing issue. I think the HK VP9 is every bit as good as the Glock 45 or Sig P320 Compact. But it isn’t better, and it is significantly more expensive.

The Heckler & Koch VP9 really is one of the best semi auto 9mm handguns on sale in the United States. But is it worth a 50% bump over the Sig or Glock carry handguns? Some people say yes, I am not so sure.

Some people won’t carry anything other than a Heckler & Koch and this compact 9mm does the job, but you need to find a discount HK as the retail price is basically insane.

It’s a nice striker fired polymer frame compact 9mm. But the HK is heading toward custom gun pricing and other gun manufacturers offer just as much for much less.

It’s a plastic semi-automatic pistol at the end of the day, and the HK vs Sig vs Glock debate comes down to personal striker fired preference. With this premium pricing model, though, Heckler & Koch hasn’t really helped itself in the United States.

Heckler & Koch is one of the great firearms manufacturers and its other firearms are still some of our favorites. While we love the Heckler & Koch VP9, though, we don’t think we would buy one of these HK 9mm handguns without a hidden discount.

The Walther PPQ M2 might be getting a raw deal here. The truth is that if you gel with the gun then it’s probably better than a Glock or a Sig from where you’re sitting. And you might be right.

The Walther OEM trigger set is the stuff of legend and the brand has a hardcore following that swear the ergonomics and trigger are better than anything on offer in the 9mm compact pistol world.

The relatively small number of Walther PPQ evangelists points to another explanation. It suggests that this gun fits some people perfectly, but just isn’t quite as good for the masses as the Sigs and Glocks that outsell it by an order of magnitude.

Of course, a few people could be right and the rest of us could be wrong. It happens…
